Other then the weird misfire recently due to my safc, Dee you were right, which is now fixed. My Jhot CA has been up and running for about 3 and a half years, and has been my daily for the past year or so, with no major problems. my JGY customs CA is a different story, but thats a project motor now.

DON'T BUY FROM JGY CUSTOMS

My car still runs decent. gets me to and from work 20 minutes away everyday. I drift it here and there in parking lots (no track days). NO rebuild as of yet. Just a new head gasket, ARP head studs, and everything in my sig. I just have bullshyt problems right now haha

Mine will turn over... but there's no turbo on it yet so it would puke oil and coolant and be very loud... soooo I'm not doing that yet. I still need that stupid flare nut fitting for my oil feed line (no SS!) I just ordered some new banjo bolts and washers from Nissan... I assume they are the same since they cross referenced them for me and it showed Z31, S12, and Z32 all share the same banjos.

Still haven't figured a fix to my waste gate mounting situation either...

Oh and my daily Jetta decided to stop running... stupid VWs!!

i never rebuilt mine, it just hammered it out of the box. ordered the swap, set it in and said "Hey yall, watch this!" lol. runs like a clock, oil changed every 1500 miles Mobile 1 extended performance (imk OCD, leave me alone). change plugs every other oil change. i run basic copper plugs coz if it was to ever start to detonate it'll toast the plug up and drop a cylinder before it eats the cylinder. its my little failsafe lol

Yeah, and you blew a head gasket. Wes did too. Because they weren't rebuilt before you guys beat the piss out of them. And that is why both swaps are being sold, right?

im not selling mine lol. im selling wes's after i completely re-did the motor. wanted to keep but gotta pay for college. btw, it took 14 months of 19psi to pop my gasket and it never got in the oil. it was a tiny leak between the head and block under #1 exhaust port. i had to add add a quart to my resovoir about once a month. thanks, try again. oh so hows ur ca? lol

i think daily 19psi for over a year on an all stock motor is pretty impressive for a 20 year old motor but who's judging. and only the head gasket went and it was just a TINY pin hole

bradsopex, I didn't rebuild my engine (motors are electric..) and it still runs great. I did replace the head gasket (twice) and put in ARP's but never changed the rings, water pump, timing tensioner, oil pump, etc, etc. and it runs awesome. I dont beat the piss out of it everyday, but I drift/drag here and there and i put it through its abuse. The 20yr old hoses are giving out so I keep having to replace that B/S.

Rebuidling is good if you got the money, but I didn't have the $ and took a chance and its been running for 2 years no issues. It does leak oil, but I think thats partially my fault. Hell i'm still rocking the clutch that came with the engine set lol. But please people, dont be like me... lol

Don't get me wrong, the CA is a stout motor. I love mine when I had it in my old 240. The car it is is now is sitting at a shop and I have not been able to get it because the shop owner doesn't like to be open during normal business hours.

Kyle: My CA is great, just need to replace a gasket or 2 on the intake manifold. Before I shipped out to the desert last year and had the car towed to Dustin's so it would be GTG when I got back, it idled and revved amazing. All new gaskets on the head, new bearings, and some other stuff. However, I neglected the manifold (totally my bad). I take my time on builds. Make sure I replace items that wear down before I go and drive it. Just seems most practical to me. The 20 valve AE86 is still running strong

well he opens about 2 soooooo id go get it. electrically and mechanically im sure its sound but last time i heard it i didnt want to be heard. it seemed more like it was happier just sitting. something about ur nistune and it being buh-janked but w/e, im not judging. also, how does a head gasket failure constitute neglect to rebuild. ive seen fresh crate motors pop a head gasket many times. my failure was due to me boosting hard, had i stayed on 13psi it prob never would have happened tho it took over a year for it to give. sounds like it was fine to me. other than that, glad to hear the 86 is running good. u should bring it out one night, be nice to see it again. hows peanut's coming along???

^ Nicest CA I have ever seen.

Mine is still running after 1 year of putting the swap in. Did it somewhat improper by not replacing anything before putting the motor in, lol. Has 70k miles, daily driven for 7k of those, 2 track days, touge almost every other weekend, parking lot drifting. Now I just recently got a 97' 200sx to daily drive. Only problem is rough idle at start (probably cause it has too much fuel from BoV). But now I have to figure out where my oil leak is since it's losing a bit of oil, but not leaking on the ground? Happened right after I put in a oil sandwich plate. Back to the drawing board!

Look out for my summer build! New valve stems, head gasket, piston rings, oil pump, and water pump. Need to get it super reliable before putting in performance parts. Soon to come after that is Tomei valve springs, retainers and lifters and maybe port and polish?

-Tomei PonCams
- Intake
- HKS BoV (Runs rich)
- Kaaz 2 way
- Spec Stage 2 Clutch (Wish I went ACT)
- New valve cover gaskets
- Megan Street Coilovers
- ST Sway Bars with poly bushings
- SPL Tension Rods
- Nismo Powerbrace

I really need to get on Nico more. I mostly get on NWN, but this is definitely more CA18 specific. And I can ask Shogun about anything! Lol. And yes, that's right, this is my 2nd post ever on this forum and I joined 2008, lol.

Ran all summer ... now... not so much.

I'm going to replace the f/r main seals, oil pump, water pump, etc, head gasket and some coolant lines. Clean sludge, check the bearings and re-assemble.

Also to be ontopic......I've had mine running about a month now, had destroyed ringlands when I got it so I replaced the piston and all the rings along with the bearings runs like a champ other than needing to dial in the timing a lil better but other than it's tits I absolutely love this motor!!!!! can't wait to start modding it

Compressor inducer 61,0 mm.
Backwheel 83,0 mm.
Airfilter 101,5 mm.
Turbine housing: A/R 0,98 twin entry.
Exducer diameter 68,0 mm.
And heavy modifications inside (CNC-made turbine wheel, porting, ceramic coating etc)

It is fairly fast at spool because of all modifications and the twin scroll. Remember it is a +700 hp machine ;)

Just curious but does anyone have any dyno results of a CA with a GT2871R .64ar??? Im really looking for a little insight on this. Mine performed very well with a red top t25, I was pleased with the little "hair dryer".

In short words.

I reused the ca-trans flange (cut it off) and welded it on the Z32 bell housing (Z32 flange also cut off). I got the parts milled down to the wanted heights and to get flat surfaces.

All details here:

have you checked the dyno pages here and combos over at sxoc ?
For torquey 'little turbo' feel/performance, I'd stick to a 28rs for bolt-on, as its a good match for a stock manifold and both peak out about the same time. A few street CA18s gone 11s on 'em.
No magic in any 2871.... I personally wouldn't "waste" the money there.
If chasing 400hp and far beyond, it's manifold and t3/t4 (or 20g) time

well i like the 2871r as it made great power on my friend Jeremy's SR and nasty power with a pair on my friend Chris's Z32. Thats 2 people that have had great results from the 2871. Based on their experience I got one . I only asked just coz Im in the process of building my CA so I cant exactly go dyno it right now. I was asking just to get an idea of what I can expect and look forward to. BTW, Im not using the stock manifold. :chuckle:

Here's my result running a GT2871R, Stock internals just bolt on stuff.
I'm building a engine at the moment with CP pistons, Forged Rods, Ported Head, 264x9.0 HKS cams etc etc. There is a build thread at the link in my signature if your interested.
I'm expecting 250rwkw (340rwhp) with the built engine and this turbo but will be going either Twin Scroll GT3071R or TD06Sl2-20G soon after i have run it in.
