So I'm a HUGE music nerd and I listen to practically anything and everything (short of religious music) and my music folder has a bunch of Japanese music from every genre. I have some J-Goth, some J-Rap, and a good bit of J-Pop and I'm always looking for some good songs/groups. I have a bit of Zeebra's stuff as well as Dabo/DJ Hasebi, Namie Amuro, Utada Hikaru, and Aural Vampire. Do any other NICO members listen to any of this stuff and if so can you give me some Artists to look into. Thanks.

A fine a** example of some J-Rap from '08

Anarchy - Fate

New isht from the grandmaster of J-Rap

Zeebra - Take Over

I don't speak a lick of Japanese, but I like all this stuff.

Wow that's kinda rascist. That's almost as bad as my gf referring to all Asian people as being Chinese. For the record Koreans kinda hate the Japanese and vice versa and both hate the Chinese equally.

The lead singer for Jinn seems like a pretty angry female...

You have to get a kick out of the Japanese Rockabilly stuff to, especially the people who are actually into it as much as they are.

That is Korean, which most of the time is almost as good if not as good as the Japanese stuff. Overall the Asian music industry shares a lot of the same sound so it can be pretty hard to decipher what nationality the artists are. You get the same thing with the Euro scene, except it's easier to determine the nationality of the Euro stuff from the language. The Asian music scene all sounds roughly the same unless you are good with the various languages and dialects of the region. I'm not being rascist by saying that all Asians sound the same when they speak, but it is harder to know where they are from as opposed to clearly knowing the difference between Spanish, Russian, and Dutch/German.

I listen some on youtube from time to time, much more a few years back. J-rap is fun to listen to as long as you dont fool yourself that these guys have anything in the form of street cred. I've tried walking through the seediest parts of Osaka, Tokyo and homeless-under-the-highway tent villages I could find, Japan isnt what you would call a scary place :gapteeth: . Halicali and Rip Slyme were some I listened to a bunch, but im sure they are totally not popular in japan anymore. I'm going to check out some you guys posted that I havent seen yet :yesnod

I listen to a few Japanese metal bands

just a quick few

Blood Stain Child (they've got a good progessive feel to them)

these guys remind me a LOT of In Flames

Shadow

Limewire, a lot of people don't like it but hey P2P Torrents = Free Music. The only downfall is that sometimes you don't get the song you thought you were getting and the Meta-Data is almost always wrong.

That's pretty fresh, sounds almost to American to be a Japanese group. Makes me think of Del the Funky Homosapien or The Pharcyde. Either way I like it.

That's the kind of crap that gives J-Pop a bad name.

Then you have stuff like this, it'll get stuck in your head and make you want to blow your brains out: Read the subtitled lyrics.

The band is called the Kanjani8 and they're like the Japanese Jonas Brothers combined with the Japanese Backstreet Boys, either way the chorus will make you want to kill yourself. You should search them on Youtube, it's so much epic fail that it start to become epic win.
