No problems as of late. I think this is the longest time period I've had a properly running Spec V. It's been almost exactly a month!

I've heard of some other ones blowing up too. Seems to be different reasons though. They are just garbage all around.

Anyway, as far as getting a dealer to replace it, I don't even like to talk about it anymore. I fought for about 5 or 6 months to get my head replaced, until I gave up and did it myself. I would have done it right away if I know'd I'd be fighting them for 6 more months to cover it. Oh well.

Cool. Well then... I'll have a Pulsar GTI-R. Is it me, or does the Pulsar GTI-R kinda look like a Golf GTI? One thing that does bother me... Nissan put the QR25 in the Skyline 4 door in Japan? Also referred to in the US as the Infiniti G35. I think im getting off topic... Screw Neons. :)

A list of problems I've heard about:

#1 is oil consumptionwhich goes along with long break-in times on the engine

catalytic converters breaking up and getting sucked back into the engine

transmissions overheating, and metal shavings in the gear oil

my fuel line popped off (connector from the plastic to metal line just came loose while at the BG meet)

other cars overheating, blowing headgaskets, warping heads

excessive start time (car turns over sometimes for 15 seconds before it starts)

rims chip insanely easy...don't brush the wind to hard or you will chip a rim

That's just stuff I can think of off the top of my head, I *know* there is more. All that stuff, and then the engine is weak compared to other Nissan engines. Crank journals are small, it's open deck (which i don't think is a big deal, but some people do). Ring lands are too high, car detonates easy. Knock sensor is too sensative and retards timing under the slightest mods. I could go on, but I'm gonna stop.

Um, no they didn't. They come with either the VQ35DE, VQ30DD, or VQ25DD. No QR in the V35 Skyline :)

Also, as a note, I don't believe there is an RWD vehicle that comes with a QR motor. There is FWD and AWD vehicles only (unless you know of one I'm overlooking).

The first D is for DOHC. The second D is for Direct Injection Gasoline.

u da man, and i cant believe u had that much trouble with ur spec v, my altima broke in just fine, and no problems with overheating, actually, that needle has never passed the 'perfect' mark, even when i run it hard as hell, and its just amazing that mine has been this good and urs that bad, maybe u just had a lemon??, and no there isnt ANY QR in japan at all i dont think, and there arent any RWD cars with the engine either, i think the only cars to even use the engine are spec v, and altima, that should be the only ones

My radiator cracked, which lead into everything else screwing up. It was one faulty part....the radiator. It was just the ignorant dealers refusing to believe that it could cause more dammage that was the problem.

And yes, the QR is in many cars in japan. The Teana has a QR25DE, but only with an AWD automatic. The Primera comes with a QR25DD FWD CVT, QR20DE FWD CVT, or QR20DE AWD Automatic. The Sylphy has a QR20DD FWD CVT. The beauty though, is that the X-trail comes with a QR20DE in an AWD 5spd. Woohoo...read my post in the Sentra General chat forum for more excitment involving that :)
