I dont understand why people doesn't want to pop their hood. There's people with turbo integra/civic around my neighborhood and they are afraid to show their engine because they dont want people to know what they got. People who knows about turbo already know some of the stuff thats in the engine bay already. I perferably just want to see how clean it looks. No one can tell 100 % what a person done to their car by just looking at the engine bay. So do you guys pop your hood?

I'm no street racer so if I had something under the hood worth popping (such as an SR with a T51,GReddy I/manifold, etc), consider that hood popped .

Yep. Why show off? I for instance would enver pop my hood unless I was working on my car or was at a Car show.

I wouldn't pop my hood either, unless it was a fellow car friend or something. I have no intentions of making my car a show car so I hate when people say like, that looks stupid. Even though it works perfectly fine and cost a fraction of the amount. Hence why my car will get its performance work before it ever gets a spoiler. Plus with a 240, you get the whole sr thing way more than I'd like. I just love when people call it that engine from 2 fast 2 furious because they don't even know it's name. I mean,I don't know the names of a lot of engines for other cars, but I also don't go around telling everybody to put a b18c5 into their civics. God I hate this area, ricer heaven. I'm suprised the cops don't put vtech and type r stickers on their patrol cars.

I wouldn't unless I really knew the person. I could see why the honda guys are so scared because their cars get jacked all the time.

I have only once popped my hood for someone I didn't know and trust, and he was reputed owner of a local speed shop. I was one of 2 RB20's in the area and I just let everyone think the sound my car made was either a V8 or SR. (Depending on if I'm idling or shifting at speed. I.E.-Rumble or turbo/BOV)I didn't like most of the local ricers and definitely didn't want it known that my car, with absolutely no saftey measures, had a skyline engine in it.

I don't think I'll be doing any different here either...If my my self-esteem and confidence revolved around ignorant schmucks saying, "Yo hot whip, bro!", I would've bought an integra.

From my experience most Nissan owners show what's under the hood. It's not the case for Honda owners. I also wouldn't show off in public if I had a SR or RB under the hood, unless I knew the people real good.

In my neck of the woods, the SR is the newest ricer motor I hate to say. Everyone wants one and every one is selling their turbo civics for s13's. Needless to say the b18 theft issue is becoming an SR theft issue now.

So my policy is to only show to someone else who has as much to lose. If you ask to look, you show me yours first. Then we talk about mine. Chances are that then you're dealing with someone who actually cares about engines. Not some ba$tard who wants to see how easy your car is to lift.

I really wish it were different.

Im with the no pop hood guys on this one. Im of the mind that if you want to know what I have you have to race me first. Unless the other person has the same car as me then it doesnt matter

Yeah I rarely get asked either. I'm usually not at home and at college nobody really cares because everybody is too poor to work on cars. Though since it's thanksgiving break I have to put up with people here, so I just leave my car in the garage, it wouldn't be bad since it's stock so most people never ask about it, but ricers here constantly just ask what I plan on doing to it and if I drift. Though I can barely drive soI sure as hell don't race, and I broke my pinky which makes it even more painful to drive. I've never asked to see under somebodies hood unless we were like changing the oil, my friends and I always just ask to actually drive the car.

Most of the time folks are anxious to see a CA in person, so I am more than willing to pop it. There is a local guy who has an RB25 and he rarely pops his b/c he gets tired of all the questions. Most of the folks that I hang with all know what I have and I know theirs (b/c we all work on our cars together) so no real need.

I have popped the hood to dispell acusations that the reason the other guy lost is because I have all this high-dollar tuning, I rarely have more than a boost up and piggyback fuel tuning. Nope yo azz is just slow chump! When I showed that guy in the GTS-T my CA18DE that handied him his *** I thought he was going to cry. My wife was laughing at him.

Lol, you got a cool wife. I only pop my hood when other 240 owners wanna see my cut airbox, my only mod, lol. But seriously, no one's asked and if anyone asked, i'd just say it's a stock engine. Notyhing to see.

I don't even lock the doors on my car. I live in a nice neighborhood and my car looks like a$$, so most would never think of taking my whip.

After I get my valve covers powder coated pink here soon, I will be popping the hood a lot more me thinks....And yes: I am serious. Q45 Brake calipers are getting pink as well.

Meh, I pop my hood all the time at local nissan meets. I have no problem showing off whats under my hood, I mean becuase honestly it's kind of hard to hide the FMIC, gauges and other stuff like that so whats the point of trying to keep it a secret.

while more people (that didn't know before) know what car i have now due to the popularity, always want to know what i have under my hood and want to see the engine even when i say it's all stock. stock sr20det that is . i see no reasons to show what's under your hood, i wouldn't want to pop my hood for someone to see everytime someone ask me unless they give me 5 bucks each time or something, somewhat like a ticket to a concert.

word up to that lol. if someone came to my house with the intent to steal a car, my 240 would be 4th in line. 1. 2003 G35 6MT w/ sports options2. 2002 Mini Cooper S3. 1969 Volvo 1800S full restoration4. 1995 240sx flat black w/ resident body damage (meaning i'm not planning on fixing it)

5. 2003 Honda Element

Well, I'm not a rich boy like you , so mine would be first in line for a Deebo: Barely runnig 96 Ford Contour and a ho hum 96 Accord 4 banger. I may buy the Accord from my roomie and drop a H22 in there. Can you say Daily Driver? My roommate's dad is UBER LOADED and he paid cash for the house we live in ($150,000 :O) but he dosen't beleive in giving my roomate a nice car. He about to sell it and get a 600RR, so that may take my place as Most-Likely-To-Get-Jacked-From-Our-Driveway.

My FMIC doesn't bling and my gauges are hidden for just that reason. But I've never liked attention, I'd rather talk to competent people about cars and learn from them instead of them nut-hugging because I'm like, so JDM.
