You already have answered that yourself quite well, in a post a few above this one, but haven't made the connection I'm looking for. The Russians were known to be a power-house of hockey completely unstoppable at that time. Even though they were all ranked as amateurs, cause no pro's were allowed to participate in the Olympics, everybody in Eastern Europe knew what they were all about. Some of the world's best players who immediately moved over to the NHL as soon as the Iron Curtain fell.danshaz82 wrote:enlighten us all then. ive been playing/following the game since i could walk. no offense taken
Now you are comparing the same thing that happened then to yesterdays result for some strange reason. We all know that since 1998 we've now had pro's playing in the Olympics. And yesterday we've had pro's on both sides, so there is absolutely no talk about miracles. United States hockey is a powerhouse and a force to be reckoned with. As far as I'm concerned it's a toss up between the big 3 right now.
1. Sweden2. Canada3. USA
One of these teams will most definitely win the gold and it will be absolutely no surprise and sure as hell no miracle. Don't fall for the hype that because Crosby plays for Canada it's their gold to lose, he's nothing but an over-commercialized-Gary Bettman-boytoy-crybaby-douchebag.
Anyways GO USA!!!
