Just find a base shell, take the roof off, and put it on your car. The roof is connected at the 6 pillars but its removable with heat and know how, just don't bring a wrench and expect it to come off

It's gonna take a little more than heat an know how to remove the roof, may i remind you that nissan never meant the roof to be to be removed in the first place. there are several spot welds that need to be drilled out, in addition to the windshield being removed, the hatch being removed, and both rear windows being removed. And if you are swapping from a shell, guess what, first your must find a good shell, buy the shell, transport it to someplace you can work on it, and then you get to remove everything all over again. then you can re-install the roof by welding it back on to your car, and install all of the windows properly so they dont leak, and finally install the hatch. but wait your not done! now you must bring your car to a paint shop and have them color match your car, order the paint, and re spray your roof. unless we are talking about a coupe 240 in which case, it is not removeable at all.

considering this, it may even seem worth the 500+ dollars for the cf roof, to install the cf roof you may simply cut out your old roof leaveing around an inch of material all the way around, from there you can just rivit the cf one on.

btw, it is a track car

Why can't you cut off the coupe roof and replace it? I've heard the opposite.

On the coupe, the roof, c pillars, and quarter-panels are all one piece.no seems, no spot-welds.

What i was trying to say in my last post is that if the roof was damaged and needs to be replaced (like mine is) carbon fiber actually seems cheaper and easier than a used oem one.

even if your roof isn't damaged, the install of the carbon fiber roof is so easy, it costs as much as a carbon fiber hood, and has the same, of not better weight loss, its the same concept ad buying a carbon hood, yet even more unique, and is something i can guarantee you will not see on those riced out fanboi hondas.

if you look at it that way... carbon roof > carbon hood

So for structural stability issues, cutting and welding a new roof on a coupe is a no-no? Does this matter if you have a cage?

I'm looking for an S13 sunroof insert.
l0nestar wrote:Wow, quick reply!

I just thought about the possibility of installing a factory sunroof (removable pop-up), but would rather not nave to mess with it.

I could probably build an insert from carbon fibre, but am looking for one that is pre-made. I will look into Kognition Designs though.

I like the idea of that sunroof panel, but my 240 had an aftermarket hole cut in the roof. So none of the stock sunroof stuff will fit I need something to cover up the whole roof. That SRB Power one looks pretty sweet, if only there was a US distributor.
