Hey Everyone, Just out of curiouslty, does the novelty of being able to drive ever wear off for any of you guys? I've been driving (legally) for abour 10 months now by myself and if I'm asked to go three minutes away from the house, I still get a thrill from it...People say I have gas on the brains and they say it'll soon wear off. I really don't think so...Do you guys (although it's kinda obvious) ever get bored or tired of driving..or has the novelty simply worn off for you? Just wondering

I've been driving for a little over 3 years now, and it definately hasn't worn off. If anything, I get more of a thrill out of driving now than I did when I first started. I'm not a veteran driver, but I doubt that the thrill ever wears off.

As an older fart, how excited I get depends on where I'm driving and what I driving. As far as driving 3 minutes to run an errand?....Uh no, not excited. But getting your driver's license or getting your first car are life major events and should be savored. Enjoy!

Not exactly a vet, but Ive owned this 240 for nearly 4 yrs now, and had a 91 hb as my first car before that...

I still love driving the **** out of her :) Some times Ill be more then happy to take the back twisties to go get my brother or something like that. I drive any chance I can get and put 20k on her since november, with out school or work. I put 91k miles on her since nov of 99 as well (had 28k on it back then and now have 119k)...

Its still fun and the more I add the more the fun sticks around... Monthly auto-x's keep it fresh as well.

not a vet either but i've been driving since i was 15 and now i'm 20. i find that driving becomes more fun each time i do little mods to my car. and since i like to practice drifting, driving can only become more fun or else it's pointless to drift if I don't like driving.

Atl_240sx, I used to be that years ago, nowadays, I drive so much, I hate it. especially going out to Barrett just to grab a bite to eat, and having every honda in the world try to race, they just won't learn they can't win.

I used to not like driving much in my minivan, but now that I've had my s14 for almost 2 months I am always itching to get out on the road or at least sit in my car:)

driving is fun, for me, as long as its for my purpose, not my mom having me go get one thing from the store. having your own car helps a lot to enjoy driving, trust me, even though driving my moms van or my dads sentra the way i drive my 240sx is definately interesting......... hehe

I love it when I'm just driving around. Driving to school is dreadful though, pain in the butt traffic and jerk drivers make the experience less than a delight. I drive to unwind and relax and driving to somewhere new is always an adventure. I guess it really depends on the situation.

i love driving anywhere but it gets uncomfortable with the heat in california in the summer. i rarely use the AC because it seems to use a lot of gas.

Yah, depends on where Im driving to. Ive had my license a lil over a year so I havent been driving that long. Driving to my gf's house or school really blows because my town is overpopulated with old people and cops. But sometimes Ill take a way that is 10 mins longer just so I can go down a street with crazy curves. I really only find driving aggressively and driving far distances fun. I go to daytona like every 2 months because most of my family lives there. Its like a 2 1/2 hour drive and I love doing it alone. I take back roads because I like those so much better than the interstate.

WEll, you couldn't call yourself a driver if you didn't enjoy driving!! :) Been a terror on the road for the past 10 years, and I still enjoy every minute of it. I recently hooked up my horn, after not having one for over a year (momo steering wheel, too lazy to figure it out before), and I replaced my OEM horns with 2 '85 caddy horns!! LOL, driving is a blast again!!!!!!!!!

take your car for some lapping events, it tons O' fun

I love driving, i love cars, i love Carls Junior. Combining the two is bliss. Food and cars, what more do you need? I just hate driving around 2-5pm cause its freakin hot and im not about to sacrifice power and gas for AC. Even though it works great, it makes my car feel like 3 cylinders or something. I love driving most when im not even going anywhere, just rollin out in my 240.

For some people the novety wears off... I can remember some friends who were super enthustic when they first started driving, now they dread driving any sort of long trip (You wanna drive? No... you wanna drive?).

But for some reason I just have this innate urge to operate mechanical things.... like cars, planes, etc. I drove from SoCal to Oregon and back along the coastline for no reason other than to drive. I avoid freeways like the plague and am always on the lookout for deserted curvy roads to get me where I need to go. My friends say I'm single handedly keeping the oil barons in power in the middle east, the nations of OPEC thanks you.. bla bla bla. Well they may get more miles per gallon on the freeway, but I get more smiles per gallon! (ripped quote... not mine) :D

I'm sick of driving. I live in NJ and the traffic is constant and horrendous (sp). The driver's suck. I also deliver and used to comute to school (50+ mins away) which quickly changed my opinion of driving.

I'm actually not sick of driving, just sick of having to drive in North Jersey locally and daily.

hmmm, let me think a minute here. Been driving for 7 years now, and I still love every second. Between my wife and I, we have 4 cars and a motorcycle, all of which work. We bought her 89 24 about 2 and a half weeks ago and have already put 1500 miles on it just driving around. Since I swapped in my SR back in may, I have put about 3500 miles on it and since I got the car back in december I have put on about 12000 miles. Driving is good stuff :D

couldnt agree more. It depends on what you drive and where. I do agree that mods improve the driver experience, especially suspension mods.

I've been driving since I was 13 (not leagaly of course) I've had over 30 different cars I'm 26 now and I still love driving but I notice that it matters what kind of car you have were your going and what-not. I love driving my 75 malibu and my 240 of course especially on the expressway at night when there is no cars and I can push the limets a little. It's like a sense of freedom for me. Thats what feels good and will always feel good to me. I do dread getting into my girls lumina or my maxima they are not as fun. and it also makes it less fun when the car has some problems and you have to worry about them while your driving.

But cruising at 70 in my malibu on a summer night windows down my song playing with no worries on my mind and no where i have to be in a hurry just driving cause I can. The street lights running up the car as I pass them and the dual exhaust humm in the night air. Thats what driving is all about.

I've been driving for awhile. But once I get my new engine, it will be like first getting my license all over again. :)
