I picked up a SR motor and the PSP was not bolted on. I asked if the PSP was a SR or KA and the guy was not able to tell me. Is there a difference between the SR and KA PSP? If so, how can I tell? I would like to get a SR pulley kit, but not sure if the PSP pulley will fit a KA if thats what I have. The motor I picked up is a Blacktop. Could the SR and KA have the same pulley? I have a 93 240.Thanks...

as long as it is a DOHC pump you are fine, they are the same.

the pumps maybe the same, but the pulley alignment is different and the mounting brackets are different. I went through 4 pumps and brackets before I found the right combination to mount to my SR redtop because 1 random person said they were the same and I didn't search on my own. I ended up with a redtop bracket and a redtop pump and had to have a custom PS pressure line made to bolt to the redtop pump for installation into my S14.

be carefull with this! there are several variations of pumps for the KA/SR. I found this out the hard way.

from what I was told, the pumps themselves are the same but the pulley/brackets are different. Before you order a pulley kit, verify how many ribs the CRANK pulley is for the PSP.

did the motor come with the pump bracket and tensioner? does it bolt up?

if so, check to make sure that you have the right belt and that it lines up straight.

i had to order a SR PSP (i had a DOHC KA, didn't fit with KA brackets on the pump) and it came with a 3-rib pulley. my crank for the PS was a 4 rib. I had to source a 4-rib pulley and in the end it took forever to get what i needed and cost a good ammount of money....

I may have the right pump. The main crank pulley has 3 ribs while the PSP pulley also has 3 ribs on it. I placed the pump on the bracket and it looked to line up with the crank pulley, the center pulley on the crank pulley.

I used the KA's PS pump with the SR's mounting bracket. I didn't want the hassle of bleeding the steering lines and system....

The alignment will be off if you try to use just the KA pump. The KA's pulley is also slightly larger than the SR's, so you'll need a larger belt...
