well i was playing gt3 today (yes i still think its fun, on day 2133 :)) and was running random cars through the quarter mile, and well i noticed, every front drive car sucks on that game, i can't get a civic type R (stock with just sports tires) to run better than 16 flat and the integra wont do better than 15.7 stock (with sports), ive seen videos of stock ITRs (DC2s) run 14.7s, yet all of the RWD cars and AWD cars are fairly close to what they run in real life, now i know its a video game, but its gran turismo, and like i said, the cars with rear and all wheel drive come within a tenth or two to car and driver reports, whats the problem??

I don't know, the only FWD car i use is the Toyota Vitz, and I never used it stock and I have yet to run it in the 1/4. Its fast though.

haha, im not a bad driver in the game at all, but i dont understand why its so slow for hte FWD, i think traction is the huge issue, although theres nothing i can do about it, i dont like having slicks on a stock integra yaknow, o well, ill just keep using nissan in the game, they dont make a single FWD car in that game, although i'd like to see the spec V in there!!

Are you guys just running the 400m or is there an actual 1/4 mile(my guess is they are the same)?

well on gt3 its called the 4oom, all japan goes by is the Meter (obviously) so considering its a japanese game, they go by the meters on there too, but still, my point is all FWD cars dont run anywhere near what they're supposed to, all the RWD cars and AWD are very close tho, like i said jdm honda integra type R, supposed to run an easy 15.2 (although i have one vid of them getting 14.7) and on gt3, all i get is 15.7s all day long

I have a question about the game. Do the tires actually wear out as you go through the races. The skyline i have in the game is now skidding like a mofo. I'm not sure if it's the power or the tires are wearing out coz i've used the tires on quite a few races

The tires will wear down in a long race, but from race to race, they should be fresh at the start of every race.

About the whole FWD slow thing, I don't know, how much traction do your cars get when you launch compared to the RWD cars? That is, do you try launching at various rpms to get the best traction. Or do you launch at WOT? I don't own the game right now but I remember the FWD cars being pretty accurate.

I've noticed it too. i have a Civic SiR and i THOUGHT it was fast, but its really slow as hell. i even put a stage 2 turbo and it revs soooo slow now and takes forever to get up to speed, even after i put the super light flywheel and a close ratio transmission. oh well. i dont use it very often, i just use my Yellow GSR Evo5 Lancer. thats a beast of a car, best car i own.

Throttle modulation is the key. Also, always use manual shift, as it allows for higher rpm shifts than the auto setting. Very crucial when running the relatively low HP cars in the quarter mile, and also the only way I can get all golds on the license tests.

I thought all the cars 1/4 mile times were kinda off.(I mean I think that they would run better times than they do)

well they're close within reason, every car ive ever ran (other than fwd) has been basically right on the nose, within .1 seconds of time's ive seen, and i know about hte pressure sensitivity of the throttle, trust me, ive tried everything, the tires just wont grab, my car in a o-4o mph race will beat an integra type R on gt3, the fwd cars in that game just dont grab for anything

my nismo 400R ran a 11.9 totally stock (is you concider a nismo skyline a stock vehicle :rolleyes ) which was pretty cool.

Oh yeah, i cant get any car to get lower than a 9.5 on the 400m. Anybody else have this problem? A 1030hp skyline should be able to do better than that...

Apparently not :pface

I don't like Professional League, the races are too long... I'm not the endurance kind of driver, give me 3-5 laps aroudn the track and I'm fine. 10-15 and I get tired of doing the same thing over and over again while 30 seconds ahead of my competition...

BTW, if you want the Escudo, just beat all the rallies. It's fun and you get a damn fast car. Oh, and don't expect it to turn.:D

turning is over-rated :pface

but realy i just got the mazda 787b or what ever it is. Quad rotory baby! its the sweetest sounding car in the game and it turns real good, almost as good as the GT-one.

as far as drag cars, not counting race-cars and F1s and such, ive gotten the RUF RGT down to 8.999 (yep exactly that) and the zonda to 9.1s, dodge viper 9.2s (9.178 once) and the skyline to 9.2s-9.3s, once you get that much power, its all in gearing and launching, also, i took off the 'sports brakes' and it actually lightened the car enough to get my R32 into the 9s

yea, that never really gets old, and i know this is kinda off subject, but one thing i never understood, is why gt3 has a 3series bmw, but not a 5, or a 7, or even an M3 OR M5 (wihch im guessing they didnt get the license to the M series) but atlesat a regular 54oi or 74oLi, i mean cmon, 5ok for a 2oohp floppy 3series??, please, and also, diahatsu never fails to make it to granturismo, but w can't have ferrari or porshce, or lambo,??? , but we're so lucky, cause we have diahatsu, and we have like 9 different (but basically the same) lancers, but we dont have most of the tommykaira tuned cars(ie skyline ,wrx) or Mines (other than the one r34, and evo) and all the HKS cars are gone, no more saleen widebody, ahh never mind, im done, enough pointless rambling, i just have high hopes for gt4 i guess.

I feel the same way, we dont even have Porsche!! I would like to have a GTiR too or a Blue Bird SSS. or a stagea like in GT2. I cant wait till the new one comes out. i mean T.X.R. Zero has better cars, and they dont even have names. oh well

on a side note, after som basic tuning, i just got my Espirit 350 to run a 9.4. i might see what my other cars can do.

Rob, some of the best cars in factory form are the RUF tuned cars. RUF is a tuner shop, similar to AMG, Mpower, Mine's, HKS, etc... It is odd that they were able to license RUF Porsches, but not specifically Porsche. The Porsche was represented quite well in GT3 with the RUF cars, maybe in GT4 we'll get Porsche models. Some BMW 5-series hooliganism would be cool too.

actually i thought the same thing about RUF being a tuner and such, but i read somewhere (it was a reliable source, i just forget where) that RUF had become so big it actually was made a car maker in its own right, or somehting along those lines, i have yet to read any more on this, jut passing info ive heard, and also, yes there are many cars i wish they had, and hopefully will have in gt4, i wasnt let down by gt3 at all, but after 2years of playin, you start realizing how much they really left out (as far as cars and such) yet they had time to add like 6 F1 cars, but no time for cool cars such as GTiRs and 28oZs and shelby series1 (not to mention countless american muscle cars) etc... and also, the starting limit of 18grand just plain sucks balls if all your choices are miata, PTcruiser (why is that in there??), and alto works, they need to throw in older 24os, civic si's (99-oo), b18c1 integras and such, that cost less than 18 grand, so u can start off with a cooler car than a miata (and you cant even afford the cooler looking ones)
