Apologies to all those people who are responding with any level of seriousness to this.... There are three glaringly obvious indicators that this was the wrong decision:

1. If you have to ask the adults in the room, then yes -- you made the wrong decision. To avoid further embarrassment, hit the "Back" button now to leave this post.

2. If a current-model M35 is your first (or maybe second) car, then you've not only made the wrong decision; you've made an absolutely horrific life choice. At 17, you should get a feel for what it's like to drive a complete piece of $hit. Maybe a late 70s Monte Carlo held together with duct tape -- or a vintage 1987 Buick Regal that was the car your Uncle Bob unexpectedly died in last year -- or a Honda Prelude with 218,000 miles on it and an interior that smells like cat pee. Cars like these are what most Americans drive at 17. By driving an M within 4 years of noticing your own pubic hair and subsequently getting kicked out of the alto section of the Glee Club, you're being very unpatriotic. Not to mention very boring, very soon in life.

3. Unless your Dad's first name begins with "Sheik," there's really no need to be so ostentatious in your transportation choice at 17. Evidently, the xxxalpinexxx80 household is above the median family income in Danvers of $70,565. Maybe you had a lonely, rich and recently deceased aunt? Maybe you won the lotto? Related to the Kennedys? Whatever. Young man, yours is yours in this great land of ours. But if you personally haven't earned it, I'd venture a guess that most fellow M owners here could care less about whether you made the wrong decision. Not hatin', just sayin'.

Penultimate point.... If you're really 17 and you're driving an m35, good for you. Now go use that social caché to snub people who want rides and then diss your car! Let them hitch a ride home in Mom's LR3.

And finally, because you asked, here's my answer.... Yes, you made the wrong decision. My advice? Sell the M, get the heck out of New England, and explore the world like a madman for a few years. It's a hands-down better investment than a metal box with wheels that is going to be worth 1/10 what you paid for it in 15 years.

When you get back into town, let us all know if you made the wrong decision then. It will be a lot more interesting.

I started with, "xxxalpinexxx80: I imagine at 17 today, internet p0rn and salvia parties are in great supply -- so I commend your level-headed choice of the M...." but I just couldn't keep a straight face.

In all seriousness, young dude.... It's a great car. It just really is that much more fulfilling and terrific when you get to step up to the M from a long line of pee-smelling, oil-smoking, rust-laden, mice-infested, broken-metal-antennaed, duct-taped GM A-bodies that have each been puked in at least once.

Take it easy buddy! You learn from asking& reading. In my school parking lot there r beamers acuras mercedes lexus audis you name it. I just brought it up from 1 of my ignorant friends, he has a 03 maxima v6 standard and says all the time, my maxima will kick your m's a**. I'm like I don't care, it is a luxury car not a racing car, the maxima is prob alot lighter and he told me he tuned it but it sounded like it was a lie because under his hood looked stock and he said it has the same engine, which I'm pretty sure he's right- this is from my iPhone so I font want to go to deep in detail

Actually, you can easily afford an M on that ammount of money, especially if you are single. Personally, I make under $50,000 a year and I have an M. My payments are $276 a month on it. Whos to say this guy didnt buy a slightly used car way cheap? Infiniti is trying to dump as many of these cars as they can and will sell them for hardly anything. My M is in perfect condition, fully loaded, black on black, and I got it for $20,300.00 Its an 06, M35. So just cause someone is young, doesnt make a huge ammount of money, and owns an M doesnt mean it wasnt a good car or that his/her parents bought the car for them. I paid for mine myself and Im only 21.

......ok "snazzy", someone sounds like they haven't gotten laid in the past year and decided to take their frustration out on a 17 year old with some of the most lamest statements made, mixed in with some truth......allow me to elaborate....

1. If you have to ask the adults in the room, then yes -- you made the wrong decision. To avoid further embarrassment, hit the "Back" button now to leave this post. ...the only thing embarrasing is someone owning this car, and then decides to make his presence known by picking on someone smaller than you (or in this case, younger)

2. If a current-model M35 is your first (or maybe second) car, then you've not only made the wrong decision; you've made an absolutely horrific life choice. .........since when now does owning a car have anything to do with making a horrific life choice? drinking and driving, joining a gang, robbing a convenience store.....THOSE are horrific life choices

At 17, you should get a feel for what it's like to drive a complete piece of $hit. that's about the only sensible thing that i agree with you on

or a Honda Prelude with 218,000 miles on it and an interior that smells like cat pee. ....are you speaking from experience on this one? if so, why the heck would you be driving a car that smells like cat pee?

By driving an M within 4 years of noticing your own pubic hair and subsequently getting kicked out of the alto section of the Glee Club, you're being very unpatriotic. Not to mention very boring, very soon in life.

...ok so now you're determining a person's level of patriotism based on their personal taste in cars??? ....and how in the world did you come to the conclusion that his life will be boring in the years to come? maybe he will move on to bigger and better things rather than messing with cars; maybe in a few years he will be into trading stocks for a living or working for a hedge fund while sipping margaritas by the pool of his house on the weekends.

Unless your Dad's first name begins with "Sheik," there's really no need to be so ostentatious in your transportation choice at 17. ........SO WHAT???? who the !?%# cares???? he's 17! why are so jealous and judgemental about a 17 year old owning a car that took you forever to own???? freaking haters man!!!

Evidently, the xxxalpinexxx80 household is above the median family income in Danvers of $70,565. .......i'm just going to hold my tongue for this one......

Maybe you had a lonely, rich and recently deceased aunt? Maybe you won the lotto? Related to the Kennedys? none of your buisness, none of your buisness and one more time: none of your buisness

I'd venture a guess that most fellow M owners here could care less about whether you made the wrong decision. Not hatin', just sayin'. you're kidding right? i guess not. dude,...you "ventured" so far off the topic that you're on an island all by yourself! i didn't see one post that points out what you just said; in fact, everyone gave him compliments....minus you!

Penultimate point.... If you're really 17 and you're driving an m35, good for you. no man, you figured him out: he's actually 31 and just comes on the NICO forums to piss us off by flaunting in our face that he owns an M35 at 17. good job capt. dinkleberg!

It's a hands-down better investment than a metal box with wheels that is going to be worth 1/10 what you paid for it in 15 years. .....at this point, i don't think anyone gives a $hit about your f'ing opinion...you've done nothing but give some kid a bunch of nonsense B.S. about how jealous you are over some 17 yr old you don't even know and on top of that, trying to tell him how to run his life nonetheless. and who cares that his car is going to be worth 1/10th of what he paid for it in 15 years??? i mean, it's like you bring up facts from the town of "who gives a $hit"! and if you're so "wise and knowledgeable", why did you make the same mistake and by the same car jacka$$?

(moderators i apologize for flaming this guy but man, i couldn't resist)

You did the right thing! I think the G cars are for girls...coupes and sedans. The M is a mans car. I laugh at guys in the G cars trying to look tough while playing their techno club music

Thanks, I aprpreciate that you cleared up all the nonsense the other guy was giving me. I did drive a 1995 saab 900s, and it cost to much to repair, everything would break, big electrical issues. I wouldnt call the car a pos,but it was small squishy and stiff. My minds cleared up, im happy with my choice, I was just confused. Thank's everyone who gave a + response.

It looks like he already has one. Im pretty sure if there was a pole here, on who needs a sense of humor, you would be the most voted. Sorry dude, im not trying to be a jerk or anything, but there is no need to be stuck up and flimsy about a topic.

it has nothing to do with being "right"; but take a second and re-read your post and ask yourself: was everything you told this kid really that necessary? somethings are just better off being kept to yourself. all you had to say was: "dude, if you ask me, i think you made a mistake and here is why, blah blah blah blah...." PERIOD.why go on and on about the kids choices on life and his patriotism to his country and his mom and his household income? i can't seem to make a logical connection as to why you would post nonsense?

Smart suggestion. I did re-read my post, and I'm still laughing.

I re-read yours, too. You clearly have total command of the icon set.

Poll. It's poll. But thanks. Between you and fivelitermeatbeater, my sides hurt from laughing so much at the witty repartee over the past few days.

Surely a tempest in a teapot. As is usual for h-o-m-o sapiens, issues were raised, misinterpreted and tempers flared.

Let us get on w/the more productive...

PS Talk about misinterpreting; the censuring program wouldn't let me print the word h-o-m-o w/out the dashes..!!
