Has anyone debadged any of the emblems on the G37?

I was thinking about removing the INFINITI from the back. I have done this on other vehicles where the badges were just adhesive backed. Hoping this is the same in the G.

Thanks!

I believe I heard that the embblem is actually spot welded to the car. You may need a hack saw.

The Infiniti lettering or the Infiniti logo? I just want to take off the lettering.

Awesome! Just what I needed to know.

What do you think about removing just the INFINITI lettering? Go for it? Leave them all?

Opinions please!

I've seen a couple of debadged 35's and I'm not personally sold on it... but that's a matter of personal preference. I believe there are some photos on another thread in this forum of a Black debadged 37.
I bought the car, and I saw the same black G completely debadged and didn't care for the look. I think I will leave them on there. I can always take them off, but I have a feeling that they will say.

Thanks for the reply!

FYI there are NO holes when you take the emblems off. All of them have adhesive

Damn you. I want that spoiler. Does ANYBody know where i can get one? I ordered it put the dealership conviently forgot to put it on when it was delivered to my house. I have that ugly gay chrome thing. I just ordered that tint for the tails and my car is completely debadged. I may put the infiniti back on. Idk depends on a few things.

If you buy it from a dealer, odds are it will be exactly like this one just not have the light on it. Personally I think it looks fine, maybe even better without the light. Once you get a car with the tail light on the rear window it's kind of pointless to disconnect it and move it to the spoiler.. just get a spoiler without the light. The dealer can order, paint and install this. They'll charge about seven hundred and change for labor and all. If you get it at purchace you may be able to negotiate the labor and get it for $550.

If you haven't bought the car yet, do your own car searching, Infiniti dealers list their inventory online. Find a car with all the options you want and go and buy it from that dealer. I drove 100 miles to pick mine up in another state. Pissed my local dealer off cause I didn't buy it from him, but he had stone interior and I saw no reason to wait. I can't see spending 40K on a car and not getting EXACTLY what you want. It's much easier to find your own car, this way your less likely to get screwed on that part.

I paid WAY over $40k I sign the paper with no itemlized list like a dumb ***. They shipped my supposed ordered car to my house and it was missing the 4 wheel steering and the spoiler. I got screwed. They charged me 3 shipping fees. They assumed that i would think the total price was fully loaded like they told me. Well it ****ing way:(

Sorry to hear that, 40K was a middle of the road price, with all the options it's around 45K MSRP. Most folks are getting it for less then MSRP though. I guess the deal is done now so you'll have to make the best of it and consider this a life lesson. Either way you still got a killer car and you can still get that spoiler. Your dealer may not know about the option, trying calling the service dept directly or another dealer. They can replace the spoiler, I've seen pictures of the spoiler I mentioned before installed on a car. GRUBBS is also selling one for $250 pre-painted, think it had the light though with red lense.

Ok bro. Thanks alot. I tried 2 dealerships and they both said the part number is unavailable. They told me they sell an aftermarket spoiler, but i want oem. I'll just want or paint the gay chrome peice. BTW did you paint your headlights, or are they overlays? You car is siick looking

Thanks. Yea they are aftermarket, but what I saw looks virtually identical minus the light. You wouldn't want the OEM anyway it has a light. You'd have to replace your rear deck which I haven't heard of being done to get it exactly like those that come from port or factory with the OEM spoiler and no tail light in the window.

My headlights are vinyl overlays by http://www.Bluebatmobile.net. He also makes a black vinyl cover for the chrome spoiler. Check out the site and send an email to [email protected] if your interested.

Ok i'll look into it. I'm just kind of pissed off that mine didn't come how i ordered it. Idk about the aftermarket spoiler. I'm sure it's of less quality. And the overlays...i just ordered my front and rear GTR style 3 days ago . The headlights looked as if they were painted so i'm really liking that. Thanks for all the info bro.

I understand that some of you believe the G37 looks better debadged. It’s a matter of personal taste, and you’re certainly entitled to it.

But I don’t. I believe it takes away from the expressed identification of a quality automobile. The car doesn’t look better to me; it looks erased, bland and lacking recognition. After all, car badging goes back almost 100 years, and if you own an admirable car, you should be proud to display its name and model. It’s a tradition, especially if the car becomes collectable, let’s say, 50 years from now (I used to own a car-show collectable 1951 Pontiac. I would no more take off a badge than paint it with pink polka dots.).

To make an analogy here, and I know it’s a stretch, suppose you became rich enough to purchase the Mona Lisa. Would you scrape off Da Vinci’s signature because you think the painting looks better without it?

You could say that its a bit of stretch just like saying a McDonald's hamburger is as good as filet mignon.

Overall everyones car should be an expression of themselves and its your car so if you like the debadged look rock out with your c*** out.

G SPOT LOL, that's a good license plate.

I'd agree totally debadging the car is not an improvement, I saw a guy do that and the rear looks bland afterwards.

On the other hand, an infiniti symbol and the wording is a bit much.. it's also easier to wax without the wording. I saw one guy remove the symbol and leave the wording. Not to bad, but the symbol looks better then the wording IMO. You know the saying a picture is worth a thousand words... I personally think the car looks more prestigious without having to state infiniti.

I'm not taking G37S off though, that's worth 5hp at least.

I'm still a fan of putting the 370GT badge in place of the G37S badge, Thinking about replacing the infiniti lettering with skyline lettering too and totally removing the Infiniti logo

Well, if you really want to turn your G37 into a Skyline (for reasons I don’t understand) and get rid of all Infiniti badging you need to do a complete job, by replacing the steering wheel, clock, OEM rims, rocker panels, seat backs, carpeting, engine cover, grill emblem, and intelligent keys. It should cost you no more than $10K.

Then you can take a felt pen and cross out all Infiniti references in the manuals and insert Nissan. The only remaining problem will be that all 370GT’s are right-hand drive but to switch over would near impossible.

You know if our cars were the Nissan 370GT Skyline, I could see debadging and converting to Infiniti symbol and G37S to improve the looks. The infiniti, aka mt. Fugi Symbol is attractive.. the nissan..isn't and there's nothing special to me about the word Skyline. Corvette, Mustang, Jaguar, Firebird ect.. appealing.. Skyline..., might as well put Horizon...just don't get it. Also, just like Acura is to honda and Lexus is to Toyota, Infiniti is the higher level Nissan brand in America.

Lastly, branding to be something your not.. is like stuffing your pants... the truth is obviously evident and therefore pointless. Just my 2c on the topic.

No offense intended... I'm all for improving the looks of the car, to each his own, just stating that mods not for me. As for the overlays, Bat may call them GTR style, but to me it's just blacking out the part that's not need and leaving open the parts that are. GTR's not the only car with seperate lights.

I was also commenting on the name they gave it... Skyline.. is a pretty bland name... Katana would have been a better name, or somthing at least less sedanish.

I took the lettering off this past weekend. I used a blow dryer and fishing line (dental floss kept breaking). It was pretty simple. After removing the infiniti letters there is a gray adhesive left on the car. I used a product called 'Bug-Off' that supposedly removes road tar and bugs from your car. The adhesive came off with a little scraping with my thumbnail. After the adhesive was completely gone I used Griot's speed shine and their paint clay, then waxed it. It looks great. I did leave the logo on like RedG37SNC did.

Well I don't see a problem with debadging and/or putting something else like the 370gt. I like the Infiniti badging a lot more than the nissan badging so I decided to keep that badging. I took off the Infiniti lettering however and put the 370GT sign on where the G37 was. I think it looks cleaner...and yes the 370GT and the G37 is one and the same so I think the badging can be interchangable IMHO. I also just dechromed and repainted the stock lip spoiler to match the car so it looks less gay. haha

The reason why you wouldn't 'rebadge' the Mona Lisa is because it is a one of a kind. The reason you rebadge or debadge a car is to separate yourself from everyone else with the same car. It's a part of personlization/customization.

Debadging in this case in addition to adding a custom look - often allows you to focus more, visually, on the lines of the vehicle.

Debadging can also be used to suggest you have a higher line model - I used to notice it a lot on S and E class benzes which can have either a 6 or 8 cyllinder engine. 6 Cylinders would be in the 300 series (E or S 320) while 8 cylinders would be in the 500 series (E or S 500). Owners of the 300s often remove that emblem - so you can't easily tell if it is the 6 or 8. Some might even add the 500 emblem to a 6 cylinder car. To each his own - If i were buying a re/debadged car used I could care less about the emblems - all I need to know is the condition of the car.

Skyline is a legendary name for Nissan. BTW if you look at all of your replacement parts (besides the infiniti emblems) - they all are stamped NISSAN.

If the association with the Nissan Skyline is a stretch remember that the Infiniti G35 is essentially a 4-seat NISSAN Z.

I personally don't think the Gs are prestigiuos. They are nice, don't get me wrong - I love my car but prestige is the substance of the car not the cosmetic emplems on it. I get my G serviced at the Nissan dealer - no need to pay additional "prestigiuos" Infiniti Labor rates.

My car before this was a Lexus LS400 - for what it is worth all the parts including the glass was stamped Toyota - and that car BTW - for me is more prestious than the G - have you seen the new LS460s - OMG!! Infiniti doesn't even make a big sedan anymore.

For my situation - I've considered keeping the Infiniti Emblem but replacing the INFINITI letters with SKYLINE. My car didn't have the G35 emblem - not sure if that was how it came stock in O3 but I dont miss it at all.

Good Luck.

That’s a specious argument. For that matter you’ll find the Toyota label on some Lexus parts, and worse yet, the Volkswagen stamp on Bentley parts. Try telling Bentley owners that they are really driving a Volkswagen.

If you don’t have pride in the Infiniti brand then so be it, but as a past owner of three Nissan automobiles, I’m a bit snobbish and glad I moved up to Infiniti.
