Daytime running lights?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I know and read that the EX 08 has a daytime running light that comes on by default. However, the lights on mine just would not go on at all?

Is there a setting I am missing? Is it an a computer option that I need to ask to be turned on?

Thanks,Zan.

I'm in Canada where DRLs are mandated by law, but these are being implemented on our models using the fog lights.

Some US owner in another thread (which I can't seem to find right now) mentioned that there's a small bulb above the high beam used for "DRL". I looked on mine and indeed there is such a bulb, but for the life of me, I can't figure out what turns it on. Are these the lights you're speaking of?

Cheers,David

Thanks for the reply!

The DRLs I know of (which was on my x cars), would turn the low-beam lights (not the hi-beam) on whenever the ignition is turned on (which is why you can't find what turns them on).

Some cars come pre-wired and some like my previous, would have to be activated by the dealer.

I am not sure how it's supposed to work on the EX coz it never turns on when I drive the car unless it's quite dark outside in which case, the auto-sensor turns them on.

I need them to be turned on whenever I am driving, regardless.

What am I missing here?

Thanks -- Zan.

That tiny wedge bulb above the highbeam bulb only turns on when you turn the parking light on. If you turn on the headlight it goes off. You are right, this can serve as a DRL . Currently, I have a PIAA wedge LED installed and doesn`t give that much light at all, not unless it is a bit dark outside. I`m just wondering if I change it to PIAA PLASMA ION WEDGE BULB?

The US version doesn't have DRL.

Yes, the tiny wedge bulb does light up like you said but I'd have to do manually thu?

They could be the ones to turn on for DLR coz the low beam xenon light might have their life reduced if they come on all the time.

As for the thread that you had mentioned and might answer your question, it is:

zerothread/338634

So, the DLR issue still unsolved, for me at least.

Had to go look for that wedge bulb, and there it was! On my car.. maybe all Canadian cars??... it stayed on all the time, either on low or high beams. And as mentioned, in Canada we use the fogs as DRL's
