Has anyone on the forum ever installed one of these kits on there M37/56 or Q70 yet?

I'm planning on purchasing the kit but don't quite know how difficult it is to install it, so this morning I called a well known car lighting and wrap shop in NYC to ask them how much it would be to install the kit if I purchased it, they told me about $250, which I think is outrageous because the kit cost less than $60 and includes everything needed for the install, the reason I was going that route was because I don't have the tools, a lift or jack stands, or a indoor area to work on the car being that I live in a building and it's winter time. So if anyone has any info on a easy way how to install or wire this kit please share, I would like a little incite before I actually order the kit.

There's two different kits that I'm interested in, one from IJDMTOY.com on Amazon for $59.99 and a kit from seller gt.inthebox on Ebay.com for $54.99. I'm leaning more towards the Ebay kit because it comes with the drill bit as well at a DRL Module built into the wiring even though the kit is only 15w and the IJDMTOY kit is 30w.

Are these installed in the headlight? Or are you referring to the puddle lights that go under the side rocker?

Links to the products you are considering? DRL's and Puddle lights are two very different products and installs.

Actually both kits can be used for both, that's why it's Daytime running lights/puddle lights, but I'm choosing to use them as puddle lights that go under the side skirt opposed to using it as a DRL that goes on the front bumper.

OK, so they are essentially puddle light kits with a DRL module controller. Interesting. I actually like the screw-in style of the iJDM kit better than the clip-in of the eBay kit.

I did a DRL conversion to the front markers which you can see HERE. It is not really relevant since you are installing them as puddle lights.

$250 @ 80-100/hr shop rate (my area) = 2.5-3 hours, which is not as excessive as you might think. They need to remove the rockers, measure and drill holes in them, run the wires, install the lights, either install a switch or tap into a signal wire, and then button it all up. And they have the tools and space required. Also, the price of the kit does not dictate the time needed and difficulty of the install. That said I persoanlly would not pay anything for the install and do it at home. But I have the tools, space, and weather needed so its not a fair comparison.

Similar install HERE.

Exactly, it doesn't seem like rocket science, I do believe the average person with the right tools can do it at home in a few hours, it's not something that needs a specialized person to do. With the lift I was trying to avoid the side skirts from being removed, because its possible to install without removing them.
I think that would be my next plan, just removing the side skirts and doing the light install inside of my house and then just connecting the wires before I reinstall the side skirts. Even though I was trying to avoid all of that, but the $250 I would have spent for them to install it I can put that towards the hand tools that would be beneficial in the long run.
Thanks for the link, I'm going to take a look at it.
