Dash protection/ restoration?

So I bought a dash from a guy in IL, it was perfect aside from two tiny holes above the glove box. Shipping from IL to NM was anywhere from $150-$300, which was out of control because I was getting the dash for $100. I had a brilliant idea... GREYHOUND! It cost like $30.

First off, don't ever ship anything fragile with greyhound... I should've known better. It got here 2-3 weeks later, with huge pieces chipped off above where the gauge cluster is, and 3 cracks going all the way down to the defrost vents.

I read somewhere about using super glue to fix small cracks, did that and made it look pretty good actually. You could barely tell unless you really looked hard. Put it in my car... after about 4 hours in the sun the cracks spread

So I dunno... any suggestions on what I should do would be great.

sorry to hear this. you will just have to get another one locally. I bought mine and told the guy to bring it to my house for 130.

It's hard enough finding another 240 owner within 5 hours of me... but finding someone in the desert with an uncracked dash for cheap would be nearly impossible.

I have a hella cracked dash, but I bought one from another nico member thats brown and kinda painted black. I was thinking about painting and installing. But how long till it cracks? Those used dashes are just as old as whats in the car now +/- a few years. So I took it to an upholstery shop to cover it and they priced me at $250 labor and for suade w/ bold red stich to match my paint. Why is suade sweet? Just about all the best rally cars have suade dashes to cut glare. Shiney dash reflect sun to the windsheild and then you see road and dash when driving. I have seen suade dashes in a lot of euro cars but not a nissan. I hope to be among the first.

$1000? I don't think so dude... my car cost me 1500. I'd rock a cardboard box before I paid $1000 for a f***** dash.

I've thought about wrapping up a dash with some fabric, but it seems quite intricate. I'll probably try it out on the old dash and if it comes out well I'll just keep that.

Fill and repaint the entire dash, SEM texture and paint is amazing stuff its so close to stock its hard to tell the difference

zackattack, how far is gallup from albuquerque, theres a place in abq called you pull and pay, i found my uncracked dash there for $50 i think. im going there on sat or sun and i can let you know if there is one there and a friend here in socorro has one too (unsure if uncracked), shoot me an email.

Those dash covers don't look that great from what I've seen of people using them and they cost more than you'll pay for a mint dash

when you come into alb from i40 west head south on i 25 for a few miles and get off at the broadway exit (220 i think) and head north on broadway and all your wildest dreams will come true there is like 5 or 6 big junkyards on that street! there is an entire one dedicated to mini trucks as well. u pull it will be on your right about a mile or so down broadway.

ive seen one other dude from santa fe. when you go to u pull it and they ask what you are looking for, tell them your just looking for imports because a lot of their stuff isnt in their computer system.
