anyone with the CVT transmission think their CVT kinda idles around 2,000 revs around city driving? My CVT tends to idle around 2k revs unless i really kinda push on it. And I cant seem to remember if anyone else had that issue with the noise coming from the CVT when slowing down or coming to a complete stop, that "whistle" noise lol.

lol ya that whistle sound makes me laugh, almost sounds like a quieter version of a supercharger or something lol my mom's 2007 Maxima does the same thing, i guess its a VQ35DE thing... doesn't bother me tho... but ya it does tend to stay around 2000 RPM....

The only reason the 6sp beats the cvt is b/c thier is more powerloss from the motor to the wheels thru an auto.

For one do any of you actually work on trannys? i dont think so. I personally dragrace at a amature level and so does all my 4 brothers. auto takes more power because of all the moving parts inside. manua does not. CVT DOES NOT HAVE GEARS!!!! CONSTANTLY in different gear ratios. Oh and for all the hype about stick is quicker than manual ur WRONG!!!! A proper automatic can bang out shifts faster and do it over and over and over again with the same consistency!!! how many of you manual owners can do that?? dont lie either

Whoa buddy calm down on the red bull....

I agree with you on some of this however, its utterly retarded to think an auto is stronger because it has more moving parts. Friction is the cause of failure in moving parts. Which is more likely to cause friction, less parts or more parts....?

While the auto trannys have more parts they also put ALOT less "shock" on the drivetrain on the launch/shifts. They are also alot easier to get traction on the initial launch... I know in the RWD world the auto may be a tad slower in the quarter but with just a stall and removal of any factory TQ management they were showing the manual models there taillights.

Drag racing doesn't mean you know SQUAT about the mechanics and physics of the drivetrain of a car.

Nobody claimed the CVT has gears

"CONSTANTLY in different gear ratios." conflicts with your statement "CVT DOES NOT HAVE GEARS" Deal with the fact that the CVT has DRIVE ratio's and SIMULATED gear ratio's

"stick" and"manual" are the same thing bud.

You argue in the beginning sticks put more power down but auto's are faster because of constant shifts..... MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!! Lets leave it as: Auto's shift consistantly. CVT's effeciently harness the power band of the engine. Manual/Stick shift puts more power to the ground effeciently.

Now take your seat in the back of the room and learn something from others.

i think this guy in the S2000 can shift quicker then manual mode in CVT... maybe. he shifts hella quick tho. i was looking for a G35 and S2000 race becuase G35 is around A/C performance and i wanted to know how it would be to race a S2000 with my car
