A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Is there a CVT fluid change DIY procedure for the 2017 Sentra?

The FSM says the fluid should be filled from below through the drain plug with a special pump.

I've seen videos of people filling from above.

The dealer says the computer needs to be recalibrated for the new fluid, too.

Has anyone done it?

Thanks,

You can check out this thread on the Rogue forum. The procedure is the same for the Sentra.

The thread starts out with 1st gen Rogue's then goes to 2nd gen like your Sentra.

My Sentra uses NS-3 ATF, which is green, apparently. People gave talked about drain and refills using Castrol Transmax CVT ATF, which is listed as NS-3 compatible, but it is red.

Is there a problem with mixing the two fluids, as a drain and refill will do? What color do you end up with?

From what I've read you don't want to mix 2 different fluids, it's either one or the other. So if you switch you want to flush out the fluid in there now.

As long as it says it's NS-3 compatible you should be good, although if your car is still under warranty I would stick with Nissan fluid until it's not.
