So I had been debating for a while whether or not to fork over the $700 Stillen wanted for their axle back. After doing some digging it looks like they are just rebranded magnaflow mufflers anyways so I ended up ordering a pair of the magnaflow 14829 mufflers with tips. Set me back about $130 a piece then paid an exhaust shop to weld it up in place of the stock axleback. I had them fab in flanges to mate to the stock exhaust in case I ever wanted to remove.

Sound is a bit louder and deeper than stock but the mufflers are still breaking in so I expect it still to wake up a bit. Sound clip to come in a few weeks when it's nice and broken in. For now picture below. I think it keeps the class of the m without making it too race car.

I agree the axleback isn't worth the money, but IMO the catback is...sucks it's a grand.

Awesome job on pulling the trigger on a custom axelback. I am trying to figure out what muffler design i should go with, tempted to go with the same setup as yours because it looks clean!

This is the proper way to do this in my opinion. It came out looking great! :dblthumb:

If you look under the car, there are 2 bolts on each muffler holding it onto the exhaust. i simply had the shop weld up a flange that mated to the stock one.

Are you still happy with it? Wish it was louder? Quieter?

I wish it was a touch louder. I might just be used to how my G sounded though with a full exhaust. It certainly fits the Character of the car though.

have not had a chance to do a sound clip. I can really only tell a difference when i get on it or at idle from the outside of the car. Link to tips is further up. its actually one single unit from Magnaflow. the tips come on the mufflers.

I just installed the infiniti sport mufflers. They look great.

I wasn't looking for increased performance I just wanted a little more exhaust note. I wish they were just a tad louder but I'm happy.

No mention anywhere of diameter size. You go with 2.5 inch? Cause I believe stock pipes are 2 inch???

If you remove the non monitored secondary cats the pipe is 2.5" at their inlets. I went 2.5" from there back in my car.

Update: resonators came in. Here's the difference held up against the stock one. These should make quite a difference in sound

Just got them installed. First impressions is its perfect for this car. Might be too quiet for a g37. Zero drone and with the windows down it sings above 4k. Video to follow

correct. theres about 4" added because the new resonators are shorter. thats it though.

when i started this whole thing the topspeed exhaust didnt exist yet. at this price point (about $550 all in with labor and everything) i could have probably just bought that and been done with it.
