Watching the old "Gumball 3000" Jackass episode, and this Teckademics video got me thinking. . . . If in a couple years some of us could infiltrate the supercar people we could throw in some SR-powered, KA-T-powered, and daunt's RB powered 240 into one of those cross country races. How bad would that be to be able to whoop up on ferraris, laborghinis, etc all day. Can you inagine who sick they would look when a 240 out does em?!?!?! HAHA. Not to mention it would be one of the best experiences of my life. (The best being Daunt's girlfriend, sorry dude). What do you guys think? You guys know where these things are orginized? how to get in? etc. lemme know,Chris

Sorry to say, a 240 isn't going to whoop up on a ferrari or a lambo. You might be able to pull on them if you are built enough, but it's not very likely.

im sure we could find someone with a built SR flexing 400HP or over. ive heard of KA-Ts with 300-400hp, and dauntt's RB- fuk, thats gonna be huge.

Through the 1/4 you will pull on them(with the right modifications of course), You would need a hellified transmission and different gears in the rear and still probley on top end won't hang with them.

Them cars are built for top end :)

You could get in on the One Lap of America (Cannonball). That happens every year. I could get the info for you if you like.

You can top their hp, you can beat their quarter times, but some ferraris can cruise at 170 or above all day. Silvias are great cars, but when you have a team of engineers designing a car with the kind of materials that we only dream of, and selling them at 200k a pop, you can do alot. Hell, there's a model of ferrari that can cruise for 24hrs straight at 190. Don't even think about it.

I would definitely be down to go and get in the mix next year when they come through california. I might not be able to whoop them in the top end, but if I can get one going slow enough, I'll kick his *** during acceleration, I should be able to get more than 300HP in a year.

ferrari's are meant to cruise at 170 all day until they spring an oil leak or something :P

but the ferraris lambos and porsches most likely won't be stock either. maybe a heavily modded 240 could keep up with stockers, but not with modified supercars. i know one guy who is probably going to do the gumball. he traded his 600+ hp awd porsche for a new porsche that makes more hp stock, so he can make more hp than the other. you could impress them by flying by at 200mph but i don't think a 240 will do well.

No Porsche EVER made 600+ hp, and especially not an AWD one. The highest hp AWD Porsche was the 959 and that was only like 450. ****, the NEW 911s only make 415 (ONLY...can't believe I just said ONLY). So yea, your friend is dumb I think.

the porsche was heavily modded, and the new one makes more stock hp than the old ones stock hp so he bought the new one and modded it to make more hp than his old one.

Tsk Tsk.

Gentlemen, look at the cars that enter those things. They're specifically built to run at 130-160 ALL DAY LONG. No offense, but don't fool yourselves.

Reliability is key, and the cars that drop out do so from overheating, leaking or plain old self-destructing.

Repo, get me some info on One Lap. I have tons of vacation time and a warranty, maybe NICO and Scottsdale Infiniti would sponsor Quella...:D

you're thinkin like me AZ. A Q has a good chance of at least being reliable at those cruising speeds for extended periods of time. Just make sure you have that transmission cooler installed and some fresh tires. maybe some crazy final gear to keep the rpm down. some crazy brakes to. shoot for that long of time at those speeds the damping forces of your shocks would even begin to fade with increasing temperatures. i guess heat is the real battle.

if you got half the police force following ya, that probably means you're in the lead of the race. :icesangel isn't the entry fee to that race something astronomical?

Yep - I'm thinking with the new Tokico's and an auxiliary oil filter and oil cooler (both easy installs) and an aftermarket set of gauges, she just might be a participant. Not a contender necessarily but a valid participant. Remember, in One Lap they race at a track at each checkpoint.

I'd pull the rear seat, line the space with plastic and add some tools and a cooler of food/drinks. Definitely have to put a bra on her (no chips in MY baby's hood). Put 2 spare rims/tires in the trunk, a couple small drums of toluene, add the Valentine One, a scanner, and my CB and we're ready!

Hey Honey - Mind if I go for a drive?:icesangel

The catch is the entry fee gets you sponsored as a participant, they stop at 5 star hotels in every checkpoint and have huge parties that you can only get in to if you're a rally guy or with one. It also provides the "protection" of multi-millionaires who call their lawyers and make cops leave you alone. : ) Also, its for the comradery and any excess cash is given to charity. Even if youa ren't a millionaire, these millionaires cover all your costs if you're a rally-er. : ) Thats the catch.

Also, in a lot of states the gumball logo provides quasi protection from the police. : )

oh. so if you're a rally'er then it's as close to be Daunttless as possible, with demi-god status over the law.

Well, in a lot of states where the cops are "cool" they're aprised of the situation and the ralley'ers only get pulled over to have pictures taken of their exotics. : ) Plus, who doesn't want to be a Demi-God like myself?

back to the issue of high speed cruising in a 240 for long lengths of time. Doesn't the TT 300z rear end have a different gear ratios. I read it on some site about which diffs. could be swapped into a 240(maybe it was 240sx.org). Anyways the person who did the write up said the NA 300z has the same ratio as a 240 but if you got a tt diff. your 240 would be slow to accelerate. They listed the gear ratios between the 2 but i forgot them.

Wouldn't this gear your car for more top end speed? Or is this not true and the person who wrote that was a moron?
