I consider myself the biggest Indiana Pacers fan in the world. I'm disappointed in this even though it wasn't totally their fault...check it out and be watching ESPN if you didn't see it. It was CRAZY! http://www.indystar.com/articl....html

Doesnt really suprise me anymore. I mean a fan throws a beer at a player and expects what? A hand shake? I would run in the stands and take a shot at him to.

Thankssss a lot Detroit. Way to treat our players to hospitality. Since when did throwing beer bottles, soda and CHAIRS ever become exceptable?

Oh and Pillsbury Doughboy with the Tigers hat on, you got your *** beat down on National TV by Jermaine ONiel... How does that make you feel? Next time dont creep up on an NBA player like you want to fight.

I am so pissed right now. Detroit better not send the Pistons to Indy. Indianapolis has always been courteous to other teams/players. Even to the point of cheering for former players (Mark Jackson and Jalen Rose).

I was at an NHRA race 2 or 3 years ago when a bolt flew out of a top fuel dragsters engine and shot through a spectator's arm, a fan gets her nose broken at a MLB game, now a fan gets rocked by Ron Artest for hitting him with a beer...Show of hands, who thinks its smarter to watch sports from your living room?

eh the arm is pretty freak, the nose was just bad luck, and the fight was the fans fault, shouldnt have started it in the first place...

i dont remember was the broken nose caused by a flying bat? i thought thats what i heard, or was it just a foul ball?

damn, I just saw that. They kept pausing the "battle" replay and had little arrows and said crap like, "watch the chair fly here," "watch this guy get punched in the face." That was definatly some crazy stuff. The best part was when they were interviewing the cheif of security and he was like, "this is an unusual event."

I watched it live from the beginning and I couldn't believe what the hell was goin' on. Those fans are some sackless SOBs though, they deserved to get their asses beat down ( or at least tried).

Who's gonna sue?? Take your pick. The old lady who got slammed in the head by a flying chair?. I'm sure the idiot that tossed it was making sure she had a place to sit... right! Or perhaps that chubby kid that wandered onto the court because his seat was occupied by some fighting Indiana players? He got decked TWICE by blows to the head by two different very large Indiana players? Or perhaps the concerned dad with his 8 yr old kid two rows back who had to explain to his kid why Artest slammed that guy's head into his seat and his teammate felt he had to keep pummelling him. Really was appalling to watch, which is why it'll run non-stop on every news outlet for the next 3 weeks.

Everyone was wrong. Artest should probably sit out the season without pay. Wallace should be suspended a couple games for his overreaction. O'Neal should sit out several games. The fans that incited the riot should have their season tickets revoked, and be charged with inciting a riot. And 'da commish needs to grow some balls and penalize those players some real money so they'll think twice about doing something so stupid again. They only real victims were the non-violent fans got caught in the crossfire and those that came to see a game instead of a brawl.

Of course if this was Hockey or European soccer, that brawl would have gotten as much press as the local Nursing Home shuffleboard tournament.(ahem)

I didnt see the game, but I saw the replays.....

The guys are all saying "oh its no ones fault, everyones fault".. If you look, its obviously (IMHO) detroits fault... That fool with the enormous hair didnt have to push Artest... Artest has been known as a hot head for as long as he's been aroun,d but he showed more restraint than Ive ever seen... He backed up, and moved away.. Then the fans started throwing crap at them....

Artest said after the game "after the cup was thrown, it was all self defense".. Kinda weak, but he's right.. Do you expect any NBA player, or even ANYONE to just sit there and not react to someone throwing cold beer at you!!!!!

This night has and will change the face of the NBA.....

Wallace (Ben) and Artest will get the stiffest penalties. I don't think O'Neal, Jackson, or Fred Jones should get any suspension. Ron could have just went center court when that fan threw the beer on him and that may have been it (or not). Instead he charged the stands and went after the wrong guy.

Though some of the fans may have been hostile throughout the game, what happened probably wouldn't have been so big had Ron not charged the stands. If you notice, Jackson, and Jones were in the stands trying to pull the fans off Ron since security was next to useless. O'Neal came in with that sliding punch (damn by the way!) because Ron was getting jumped by the fans that SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ON THE COURT. Security sucked. They're supposed to be out there to prevent things like this. You see someone get hostile, you ask them to either calm down or you kick em out. But for that many people to throw buckets worth of beer on the players while they were exiting and get away with it is just insane.

Therefore, I feel Ron Artest and Ben Wallace should get the suspensions, MAYBE just MAYBE O'Neal (but he was protecting a teammate), but no one else should see a suspension. It's sad because I think a lot of Pacer fans actually liked the Pistons too. I know I do. I just hope the guy that threw the beer initially and then decked Ron in the face 3 times gets the biggest penalty of all.

BTW I'm surprised no arrests were made.

Just when it appeared tempers had died down, Artest was struck by a full cup thrown from the stands. He jumped up, and charged into the stands, throwing punches as he climbed over seats.

"He was on top of me, pummeling me," fan Mike Ryan of Clarkston said. "He asked me, 'Did you do it?' I said, 'No, man. No!'"-------------“ Just think about what it takes for NBA players to go into a crowd. Sometimes fans get kind of out of hand, but it must have taken a lot for NBA players to go into a crowd and start a fight. ” — Lakers forward Lamar Odom

I agree with most of what you said, but I disagree about Artest. He was totally wrong even after getting a beer tossed on him. Artest actually started it by that cheap flagrant foul. Wallace didn't show much class or restraint either with his reactions. And he should sit out a couple of games too. But once Artest lost control and went into the stands and slammed that guys head into the chair, it went from self defense, to aggravated assualt. Artest and O'Neil could very easily face criminal charges, in addition to whatever suspension and fines the NBA throws at them. And both the players, the teams and NBA face some hefty lawsuits if they don't make right with the fans who were injured. The fan who tossed the beer was obviously wrong too, and should have been arrested, but Artest went WAY WAY over the line.

weird to see how bball fans and hockey fans are so different. im a HUGE red wings fan and ive NEVER seen any wings fans at the joe even boo anyone. even against our arch rivals and the avalanche. i can honestly say this would never happen at the joe, but it does give detroit a bad name

They suspended 3 Pacers! The Pacers are battling with injuries right now too! They've been playing with damn near an 8 man roster already! That sucks

its interesting because theyre saying indefinately until we say otherwise. i guess that means basically until they come to conclusions about it, theyre not coming back. but normally indefinately means the rest of the season, until otherwise means "our people will talk to your people." but id say its going to be a while before the pacers get those three back.

actually the one who said he was going to sue was the guy who started it all by throwing beer at artest, thats what i was talking about. if i was an innocent caught up in the crossfire id sue too, for sure

also the kid who got hit twice by the pacers was on the court throwing stuff at them, then proceeding to hit artest several times after a little yelling match. i would have hit him too

wow, after reading that article it shows that even though the pacers won by 15 pts, they were the big losers in the end, even though i honestly think it wasnt their fault. that poll on that article, 20% of the votes say artest caused it, the other 80% say something to do with detroit, 50% of that being the detroit fans...i think the fans were by far the biggest cause and obviously a lot of other people agrees with me

Im a red wings fans as well but our fans also booo, I dont know how long you've been following them but remember when the Avs/Redwings rivalry was at it's peak, there were plenty of cheers for the wings and plenty of boos for the avs to go around at Joe Louis. Also the Wings fans seem to hold grudges against their own players. Do you remember a goalie Tim Cheveldae. At one point every single time he stepped on the ice the fans would just give it to him, which later turned into him being traded to winnipeg jets.......(damn I think I'm getting old.....that was like 12 years ago).

I guess you guys forgot the infamous Toronto Maple Leafs Tie Domi versus the fan incident in Philideplhia a few years back ago during the playoffs. Some fan was heckling Tie Domi as he sat in the penalty box and I guess poured some beer on him. Tie squirted the fan with his water bottle, the fan fell into the the penalty, Tie Domi beat the $%^#! out of the fan before referees intervened.

As for the Indy versus Detroit versus fan incidence, everyone should sign contracts and appear on WWE Raw or Smackdown.

eh the fan falling in the box was his own fault, i dont care what anyone says but if someone jumps in the sib bin with me during a game trying to do stuff to me im going to go right back at them. also anyone remember in 1990 when the fan ran on the ice and started challenging the whole sabres bench and got whooped. its always the fans, why would the players instigate anything with the fans?
