I was listening to my IPOD full blast in my Q45 92 and then the song changed and the new song had a REALLY loud bass. So then after that I've had a crackling sound around one of my rear speakers. It's as if the frame in which the speaker sits is lose.... I don't really know much about car audio so I need some help figuring out what happened and how to fix it.

That would be my guess also. Just take them out and see if the foam is separated.

Replace them.

They're standard 6x9 size.

Pretty much anything will be better, but I'd suggest Infinity or Focal.

So I can't fix the problem myself without buying brand new speakers?

LOL, brand new speakers will cost you between $20 and $100 depending on what you like.

I think you're talking about getting new bose speakers.

I don't ever recommend that

Ok, **** it, I'm gonna buy 2 new rear speakers. Any1 got any pointers for what I should look? I want to spend under 100 dollars too. Also are there any other specifications besides the 6 x 9 measurements?

Nope.

No other specifications.

Just go to whatever local store you have and bring a cd that you're familiar with. Listen to the different speakers.

Don't automatically pick the loudest one. Listen for the actual sound. Whatever ones you like are the best for you.

Just stay away from brands like pyle, pyramid, lanzar, audioban, punch, boss, ect...

Why should I stay away from those brands? What brands do you recommend?

Just stay away from brands that claim to offer amplifiers that have a very high output for only $100. Like lanzar claims to have a 1000w x 2 amp for $200. In reality it will put out ~50watts x 2

How about this, just go to best buy. The only bad brands they have are dual, verse, and crunch. Everything else they carry is decent

Also, howmany watts should I get? Should I get the speakers with the same number of watts as the original speakers or can I get speakers with more power?

Doesn't matter.

25~100rms will be fine. Don't pay attention to the "max" or "dynamic" rating

Well I went to Best Buy and the cheapest 6 x 9 speaker was around 62 dollars each. I think I'm gonna try overstock or ebay instead.

Don't worry about getting some crazy 3-ways or 4-ways. A good 2-way will work great. Trust your ears!

My rear has a crackling sound too, but I just replaced them so I think mine is either a loose base, loose connection or bad ground..

So basically even if I replace them I might still have a crackling sound?

Damnit, just go to walmart.

They sell roadmaster 6x9s for $20 a pair.

Believe it or not they sound decent

Depends if the speaker is making the noise, the mount it attatches to, or the cover over them. Get your ear by there and start to figure out where the sound is coming from. That or send it into an audio place, have them diagnose it for you and sell you whatever you need. Expect to pay well over 100.00!

This is a damn G50!

There is no plastic mount! It mounts directly to the metal rear deck!

The amp shouldn't cause it to crackle, but it's a possibility.

I suggest that you change the damn speakers. If that doesn't fix the problem you can add an aftermarket amp!

Either way you have to change the damn speakers. You can't use an aftermarket amp with the bose speakers. They are 1 ohm. This will kill any other amp

Either will do, but I personally like these:http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ol...84508h ... ol...84856

You can get both of those online for less then that.

They will produce alot more bass then the sonys too

Ok, I like these ones: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ol...84508

That's the first link you posted. I found them for 80 dollars on the net, however. The depth for the original speakers is 5'' and for these ones it is 3''. Does this matter or not?

Ok, lets forget about which speakers to buy for now. Right now I am wondering how I am going to remove the speakers. I removed the cover in the trunk to try to get them out from there but it seems like I would need to remove the back seats?

Also, I was browsing the net and I found this : "And aftermarket speakers cannot be used with the factory system without an aftermarket amplifier and $500-$600 worth of rewiring and impedance modifications. If you want to save money, just head to a junk yard and pick up replacement Bose amplifiers for $30. "

Is that true?

That is not true.

You can use the bose amps with aftermarket speakers. A few people on here have done it, including myself.

To get the speakers out you do have to take the back seat out. Then you pop up the rear deck.

Alright then, I am going to order the Infinity 3 way speakers you showed me, I found them for 80 dollars on another website.

Also, I was talking to my friend and he was wondering if the head units would match. Is this a problem? My friend said he doesn't know much about old foreign cars and he wasn't sure if the head units would match.

Not sure if the head unit would match what?

What you're going to have to do if take the amp off of the back of the original speakers.

The amp is the black thing on the back of the speakers. Unscrew both of them(one for each speaker). Then there is a red(pink?) and a green wire that actually goes from the amp to the speaker.

These are the wires you'll need to cut. Cut them as close to the speaker as possible. Then either use a wire nut or solder to connect about a 12" piece of 14~16awg speaker wire to each one of these.

Then you need to figure out a way to mount the amps. You can do it however you want. I pesonally just hung it from the new speakers. But you could easily velcro then to the underside of the rear deck.

Ah, so each speaker has its own amp? I didn't know that.

So how should I remove the amps? Should I unplug them first and remove them with the speakers through the inside of that car?

Also, when I solder the 12'' wire to the amp wire, how do I connect the amps to the new speakers?

That's the easiest way

By whatever method the Infinity speakers you bought uses. More then likely it'll be a spade connecter. If that's the case then you can pick up the proper sized spade at any hardware store. Or it'll be push pins. With this you just strip back a little bit of the wire. The push and hold the pin while you slide the wire through tthe hole
