It really depends on whether or not there is any hidden damage to any of the metal bumper parts that are behind the bumper cover itself.
Like an idiot, I backed into my F-150 with my Rogue when I was backing up in my driveway (don't ask me how I did this, just know that I am a dumb a _ _). I put a nice crease in the rear bumper cover of the Rogue, but it didn't look like there was any damage to the metal bumper parts underneath. There is a Nissan dealership about 60 miles from me that sells parts on the internet for about 30% off MSRP, so I ordered a replacement rear bumper cover from them and went and picked it up. I had a body shop match colors and spray the cover. Following the instructions in the Nissan FSM, I removed the rear cover and measured distances and checked for damage to the bumper reinforcement and supports, luckily to which there was not. I carefully installed the new cover and afterwards you couldn't tell that it had ever been replaced. Cost of the repair was about $260 for the OEM cover and $150 for the paint.
The Rogue took the impact very well. Better than the F-150 did!
I was very lucky though. Had there been any damage top any of those other parts, the repair cost would have skyrocketed. Plus I was willing to do a lot of the research, and work, myself. You need to find out how much damage there is first before you can start to get an idea of what is involved in the repair and how much it will cost. And even if you take it to a shop and get an estimate, they are going to tell you that the costs might go up depending on what they find once they remove the bumper cover.
Good luck!
