I like snob cars. They tend to be much nicer than plebian cars.

Nice use of "plebian," well-thought out and presented arguments, nicely done Jesda. I agree that the Z4s aren't the most attractive car on the road, but they do seem to have some of the styling elements of the undeniably attractive 507s although not nearly as much as the Z8.

Bangle.

Have the detractors actually seen these cars in person? A seven-series is easy enough to find, but the Z4 is still a bit more rare on city streets. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but will still fail to do the Z4 any justice. In real life, the car is a rolling work of calculated art.

If you want a true definition of motoring beauty, try the Ferrari 360 Modena/360 Challenge Stradale....or any Porsche from any generation. Both the Ferrari and Porsche are examples of form following function.

I didn't see a previous post in this thread from you, mainevent212, so I cannot assume you are for or against the Z4 design. My point is, <most> people who see the car in a magazine immediately judge the car as fugly, worthless, junk. To see it in the flesh...in 3d...gives it's "odd" shapes/angles purpose, or better yet...a sense of purpose to the seemingly sharp angles. "Thinking outside the box" as the cliche goes, is what is needed to generate new designs/styles/concepts.

Looks are subjective. I like the style; apparently most people here don't.

I guess you'd have to be a fan of the automobile industry as a whole to appreciate a fresh design.

I do agree that seeing a car in person does enhance its beauty, or at least helps to explain its design. It also helps to see it moving, and to see it during the day and night.

That said, I've seen my share of Z4s and 7s. Theyre ugly as sin. The Z4 can look sharp when it flies by at high speeds and you can barely see anything except the tail lights. The Lexus LS430, on the other hand, I thought looked fine in pictures, until I saw it in person and found it awkward looking. It tries to slam the Cadillac Deville and Mercedes S-Class into one package. Thats like Arnold Scwarzenegger and Danny Devito having a baby and then hoping it comes out cute.

The Infiniti M45, however, is gorgeous in person. Just freaking gorgeous. (See Infiniti thread for my review.)
