I've met some fools in drift411.com in person and they claimed that their average speed on Deals Gap was 60-70mph.. WTF. If any of you guys have been on Deals Gap you know it's impossible to go that fast with a Corolla. My friend and I went average 40-50mph in 240sx and it was crazy; we were sliding all over the place. They have a record of the fastest time on Deals Gap; it was 60mph. I guess those corolla guys were professional racer or something b/c they broke the record. btw: they were around 20yrs old. Takumi and Bunta?i wonder

I don't ming calling him out. It was the asian dude with da tattoo. I don't have a problem with him but what a first impression. YOu don't go and lie through your teeth like that. I've been on Deals Gap and I saw the highway 129 sticker on his car so I asked him was it fun. He said him and his buddy went on there chasing a dirt bike at 60-70mph the entire course. I don't know them that well but it seems to me all they can do it hang together and slap stickers on their car.

if he still agree to it then maybe he should call the record holder up for a challenge. I know this guy at work that's a professional bike racer. He went up there 3 times and the average time around the corner he went was 55mph. I know for sure a little corolla and the driver can't be faster than that

There is no way. Maybe a bike can average that high, but no car can. You can hit 60+ in a couple places, but there is no way a car can average that high, I don't care *HOW* good of driver you are.

looks like a fun place actually, 318 turns in 11 miles isn't too bad.

I think california still wins though, sorry. I think we have a road that has over 600 turns, but a longer road. plus the Angeles Forest Highway is always a winner, you can average at least 50mph on that road.

As far as the # of turns per distance, I seriously doubt any road in CA has it beat. I don't think it is possible to put more turns in a road (atleast, the same length). Deal's Gap is by far *THE* curviest road I've ever been on...and I've driven through almost every state. The next closest roads that I have seen have to be probably those by Mt. Rushmore, but they don't even compare.

here you go.

http://www.mulhollandraceway.org

and there are a lot of canyons that aren't even listed on that site that other people know very well. Infamous GMR wasn't even on there the last time I checked. And I know of a few that aren't on there either.

thank you!! The only people that stated such thing are either liars or haven't been up there.

I haven't seen other roads but Deal Gap is pretty badass. The dramatic change of elevation and constant turn force you to throw your car left and right .

lol i just found this thread. a little late.

i can see how you think im BSing. and i would be BSing if i said i ran the whole thing at 60mph. we got up to 70ish at one point really close to the end of the run going up the mountain.

so GOT UP at one point is what was said or meant. hope this clears up any confusion.

we were driving and two sport bikes cut us off. and we tried keeping up with them. and we were. they would start to pull away on the straights but we'd close in on the corners. right at the top of the mountain is a huge gravel pit. they were way ahead of us when we got to that point. and that was the hardest we ran of the two days we were there. that last leg was so harsh our brakes went to mush. everything was super hot. i have metal valve stem covers and upon removal of them i was burnt and had blisters on my fingers because they were soo hot.

i think, if recall correctly, the brakes failed on one car right before we pulled onto the gravel pit. so he just kept going straight until things cooled off a bit.

it was three of us. so in no way was i trying to lie and in no way was i trying to brag. im just trying to clear up some of the mess.

chet youre the man

by the way we averaged 50-55 before hitting the corners if memory serves me right.

we met up with a fourth corolla and he coulnt keep up.

but im probably wrong. i was trying to keep my eyes on the road and not be worried about what the speedometer said so dont start flaming and bashing.

That sounds much more accurate. Hitting 60 is much different than averaging 60 :)

And I hear you about the brakes. The first time I went up there I got my car so hot, you could feel the heat radiating from the rear brakes from about 5 feet away. Front was even worse (obviously).

You don't need to start calling people fools. I know those guys and I highly doubt that they were lying to you. YOu probably just misunderstood.

That comment about how "its impossible to go that fast with a corolla" is pretty ****ty too.

Anyways, who cares. Internet ****-talkin is lame.

You mean a 60mph roll-on or a run at 60mph through the mtns?

I could be up for a quick little roll-on, as I would like an idea of how fast my recently swapped car is. I'm stock boost, so not really all that fast. Mid 14's maybe?

I'm in midtown if that makes a difference.
