Hey now! Don't hate!

I had a Staffordshire (hate it when they're called pitbulls) back in the day. Contrary to what people think, he was one of the calmest dogs we've ever had. That dog had my back when some moron tried to do batting practice on my head for spitting near his car.

Ah the good ole days! RIP D!

Doesn't matter what breed that dog in the video was, it was absolutely tiny. Merely a speck in the video. For that "officer" to turn a dog into a sponge clean-up job and then to aim the shotgun at those folks because they were crying for their dog is absolutely inexcusable...They should have that guys arse.

Thank you! At least another Bully Breed proponent speaks out. It's awesome when your dog saves your arse like that. We had a Great Dane when I was growing up. He saved my dad's arse one night when my dad was out walking him. A German Shepherd was about to take a chunk out of my dad when the Dane came out of the bushes (had some business back there) and hit that Shepherd with his chest at a full gallop. He let the Shep live, but it went away with it's tail between it's legs! Haha!

if hateing is what it is then so be it , 95% of people are more concred with there "image" purchase of said pitbull and give no conern to proper training and securing of the dog . plus given its purpose as a dog purely bred for fighting (as far as i know), it serves no purpose

case in point , a freind of mine left me to watch his yellow lab , walking the dog up the street the pitbull lunges over the fence and goes after us ,let the yellow lab go and proceeded to run like hell back to the house (had no anti pitbull weapon) to call up the pound and try to arrange for the little son of a ***** to be put down , somehow the lab got away from it and made it back to the house untouched , still surpised to this day it found its way home and got away from that monster ...

to this day i continue to be amazed by that Lab , even woke me up when i had a nightmare

its nice the dog stepped up for you , got a 5lb pomerainian that does the same thing , and could be a threat if it was bigger than a damned football , so all it does is bark and nip untill it is kicked like a 60 yard feild goal attempt in a collage bowl game

bringing a ASP next time i walk the Lab by that house

Well then, according to your logic, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that a Pomeranian, a mini sled dog, serves no purpose?

Don't get me wrong here, I understand where you're coming from with all this, but to hate an entire breed of dog? :( Seems like your disdain isn't so much for the dog as it is for the owners and their negligence.

I do agree with you that most "Pitbull" owners are image-conscious but a very few aren't. The reason why kept a Pitbull was because the little critter came to our door step as a stray pup.

The dog was overly protective and territorial but I they make great guard dogs. Oddly enough, at the time we had him, we also kept a yellow lab, a german shepard/husky mix, a bull terrier/pointer mongrel and a small terrier. Not once did I have a problem with him attacking the others.

if we're on the topic of breeds i'll give my experience of one at least, ok maybe two.I owned a dalmation and that dog would have given it's last breath to protect me. It thought it was a lap dog and loved to be with you and play. But if it though anyone in our house was in danger that thing was on patrol! I don't know how dogs know, but it knew the difference between just the mail man and someone who is a real threat.

Other experience: As a little kid our neighbors had a large boxer that was kept in the yard by an invisible fence system. whenever i rode my back past the house the dog would disregard the electric shock collar and attempt to go right for my meaty leg. The dog only got 3 chances to do this as the last time he got a swift kick to the ribs then wimpered and limped the way back home. Never chased me again! I never tormented this dog. I respect animals and enjoy them very much, this dog was just to agressive and I blame it on the way it was raised.

I'd have to agree with Stoney :D

Pitbulls or Staffordshire Terrier's,etc etc, were bred to fight, they have the jaws to prove it. Yes, there are plenty of other dogs that can be just as aggressive and hard to train and downright deadly (I.E. A Cane Corso Mastiff) With that said, i don't think Stoney was blaming the breed/the dogs, that would be ludicrous, it was a reference to how people could be so dumb as to create such a breed for such a purpose

Ok well that clears things up.

I also think it's pretty useless to breed dogs solely for the purpose of fighting bears, bulls and other large animals (bulldogs)and to run 45mph.

BTW, Sky, just wondering if you're into videogames? You might wanna check out Panzer Dragoon Orta for the XBox. IMO, the second best game (behind Metroid Prime) released in a two years.

If you can get a hold of it, Panzer Dragoon Saga for the Saturn is IMO the best videogame ever.

yup skys right , about that last post she made , thats where im coming from ...

as for the purpose of the dog....in my book a dog with a purpose will bark when a inrtuder approches , ,loyal to the end and can find its way home blinded with 3 gallons of turpentine spryed on its arse and jonny Jr kicking it the whole way (all the while the damn dog still happy)....

remeber most people that have dogs have familys , i see more picutres of little kids with Labs and Golden Rerivers than i do with pit bulls , that is unless the 4 year old is holding a 40oz

right on Stoney!! :D

(actually Sopadope, i am quite the videogame conossieur/addict. But i don't have a Saturn, i've heard of Panzer Dragoon though. Actually someone was telling me the RPG Lunar (most of them remakes for the psx 1) feature lots of dragons. And so does Breath of Fire. )

Can't argue with that. It's just a shame that Pitbulls get stigmatized, and hated by some, because of the actions of their owners. Like you, I'm sick of seeing Pitbulls used as fashion items by the likes of gangsters, bikers or lame hip hop "stars" on MTV's Cribs (also, I'll go psycho if I see another rapper showing off "Scarface" from his DVD collection).

Sky,

The Lunar series was loaded with dragons and other mythical beasts. Chrono Trigger had some. Secret of Mana on the old NES had lots too I think.

Too bad you don't have a Saturn. Some of the best RPG's ever made came out on that system ie Panzer Dragoon Saga, Dragon Force, Iron Storm, Lunar: Silver Star.

Yeah, but some Lunar titles have made it to PSX 1, i was thinking about buying them but they're an arm and a leg. i've haven't really played Chrono Trigger, but i am familiar with it.I've played mostly squaresoft rpg's, i.e, Final Fantasy 4 (2 on snes), 5, 7, 8, and right now i am trying to finish 10, Xenogears, Suikoden 1 & 2(Konami), etc etc. I love the music too, i have several final fantasy soundtracks too.

Thats a cute dog! :D My mom has a lil shi-tzu. He's lil fiesty dog lol

Just heard some news up here about that shooting dog. They have now said from now on anyone who is pulled over and has an animal in the car must leave the animal in with doors shut so that no more harm will come to animals when someone is stopped or made to get out of the car.

I figured out my snapshot and took pics of my cats last night. I have two twin white cats and the dog and the rabbit all get along inside. Its funny when you see the dog running b/c 2 cats are chasing him and its a field day when the rabbit and cats play as well. :pface

Only reason why I brought my rabbit inside was b/c it got down to 1degree last night and its been really cold for him outside. (rabbit-Jack Daniels/Ripper). My cat buttons is like a mom to him b/c she will grab him and give him a bath. But the rabbit and one of the cats is mine. But yet my brothers cat, furball, loves bugging me. :pface We took them in b/c a guy was going to knock them in the head. :( So I told mom I want them so they dont get killed. We got them when they were maybe 8weeks old they were lil (awww boy I wish they were lil still lol)

I will let my mom's dog in my car only when I have time and pick up my brother other than that he keeps his lil butt home.
