I was not a cool kid:

Parents made me think it cost a million bucks or something. It was only $30 in today's money.

... and these ...

Also had almost every SSP Racer's that were made, and you name the Hotwheels or Matchbox car and I most likely had it! And my BigWheel ROCKED! Soon, that was replaced by my Mongoose w/chromoly frame and alloy web-wheels! Yeah boi! Then on to my Redline MX-II when I got serious about BMX! Sold it for my first car. :tisk: Man, the 70's were fun to be a kid!

I seem to remember a friend having that, I think I was more into legos and bikes as well.
I've often thought about building an adult-sized sit'n'spin. Yeah. Sit'n'spin.

I remember that thing, I stole money out of my mom's purse to buy it and told them it was my friend's and I borrowed it. lol

They never caught on, so I ended up doing a lot worse things later (and got caught...) I call that thing my gateway drug.

Yeah, but did you OWN that in it's arcade style glory? Man, if you did - you were the bomb! I had wealthy friends (or I should say friends from wealthy families) that had actual arcade podiums like Galaga, Cobra, Donkey Kong ... they made me sick - d4mned rich kids. :tisk:

I LOVED that driving game. I used to play it for hours. I think I played it till i was 20. Come to think of it, if I knew where it was, I'd prolly go play it now.

No didn't own it, but put enough quarters into that and Mario (before Nintendo came out) to own them all.

1960 Murray pedal car (mine was a police car, but we painted it red). It's still in my parents' garage. Even has a sort of differential...one of the rear wheels is unpowered and spins freely.

Mine has these hubcaps, and still has the padded seat cushion (blue).

Hahaha ... we didn't need no stinkin' CPSIA back then! We got injured/maimed, lost limbs and had non-reversed mental disorders due to the lack of guidelines as compared to today! ... AND WE LOVED IT!

Cool. Anyone remember these?

Cox Shrike. Tethered , gas powered prop car. Ridiculously fast. Mine was yellow with a metal hoop that protected the blades...

How about this?

Image

I had an Aurora set as a kid, the cars were a Jag XK120, Mercedes 300SL, and giant winged Chapparrel (yeah, pretty old). I might still have the cars. In the 80's I bought an updated Tyco set, which I gave my son. Pretty elaborate.

Yeah, had that too ... my parents, while not rich really spoiled me with all kinds of anything dealing with cars. :bigthumb: I remember having the first "slottless" set too!

The Ultimate 80's Toys:

Fortress Maximus

GI Joe Aircraft Carrier

I didn't have either, although I acquired a Fortress Maximus when there was a Japanese re-release way way later. The USS Flagg is worth like $2k unopened.

I had a Lego Futuron Monorail back in the day though, that was thoroughly boss. Still have it.
