Compressor Surge?

when i put the car in a high gear such as 3rd and at a very low rpm and get on the gas to let the turbo wind up a little bit and let off the gas i get the fluttering noise along with the bov iam not sure if its compressor surge or my bov, iam new to turbo so iam not sure which it is also my bov is located near the smic its a no name brand bov the previous owner threw it on there , if i pick up a fmic and the hks ssq and charge pipe combo will taht solve my problem? and i know compressor surge is bad because it causes the turbo to spin back , what is it bad for it? sorry if i sound like an idiot iam new to this turbo thing/

As long as the BOV is venting it's probably not compressor surger, more likely it's the BOV fluttering. If it's adjustable you just need to tighten it up.

To the OP, it is indeed compressor surge. The ebay bov you have does not realease easily enough at very low boost levels, most likely because it is adjusted too tight. No matter what bov you have and depending on how much boost you are running, there will almost always be a little bit of compressor surge, it is normal, and it is nothing to worry about. I would say the HKS will still surge lightly, but it is a much better bov for your use.

^ sideways thanks for the clarification.I had just come to that conclusion because a friend of mine recently bought one of those ebay BOVs and it fluttered like crazy on him... although he also had a HUGE boost leak at the time.
