the engine is completely stock no changes at all. only a 3" exhaust all the way back with a 4 inch glass pack muffler ( it has no catalitic converter on it) The exhaust is a strait pipe (no resonato) I also have a boost gauge and engine is currently running at 7PSI

I was wondering if i could boost up at 12PSI without changing anyhting?

Did you read the posts? Easiest way to do this, and you will need ALL of these:

1. fuel pump2. fmic (or s15 smic)3. hks actuator

You will at least need a smaller battery for a FMIC, or battery relocation since it goes through the stock battery location to the intake manifold. Smaller battery works just fine (I use a Miata battery).

You are asking questions without looking at your engine bay. There are simple, basic knowledge for most FR turbo owners.

I've been running a completely stock redtop at 11-12psi for almost 2yrs now, problem free. I think you'll be fine, just don't go above 12.

How often do you heatsoak in the hot TX weather, and are you running a stock fuel pump?

Haha, thanks. Looks like I have a twin brother lol.

Yes, I do have a Walbro pump, 3" exhaust, and HKS bov. So it's really not completely stock but none of that should effect it's ability to tolerate boost.

Actually I've never heatsoaked my smic that I know of. Even after beating on it for a good 15-20min, the intercooler is still cool to the touch (I've actually gotten out of the car to check it lol). Most of my time online is spent reading thread after thread on sr20's. It is well known that stock boost is 7psi but my front clip came with the stock ebc solenoid that brings that up to 11-12. I think that is what the stock Silvia's and 180sx's run in Japan? It seems to me that it would be ok to run a stock engine at that boost level since that's what it was originally designed for?

when I had my sidemount that thing would heat soak really bad even at 10 PSI. If it was hot out and I ripped through the gears 2 or 3 times repeatedly all of a sudden I would loose all power, hasnt happened once with my FMIC.

i kno its an old post and not to revive it. but the serching does help in this field. on a stock motor i wouldnt push the turbo past 10 psi, depending on the turbo and intercooler, is depending on heatsoak. not all turbos/i/c's are the same. if you get to hot detonation occurs which ='s bad mojo for the innards

(sorry bout spelling been up for a few days workn, finaly got a chance to chillax)
