those are for the 86 racing series. you use the stock front housings for yellows and the back shock is a whole shock not insert so that bolts right on. This thread somehow took a turn for the better. nice decision going with yellows your car will feel amazing.

Tanabes are good quality, I'd be iffy about Godspeed or D2's as far as performance goes but I suppose it depends on whether you just want a simple drop for car stance reasons. Even so, I have trouble investing money into things that aren't exalted for quality (and by exalted I don't mean hyped). I'd rather spend an extra few hundred to feel more secure with my investment than spending a few hundred less and having something blow out on me.

My recommendations out of the 3 choices you gave are the tanabes.

no the back shock for yellows is the whole shock not an insert so it will only work with 240 hubs. If you want z32 fork you will need custom housings and have to use the more expensive race 86 series koni insert. LIke was previously mentioned you can contact veilside180sx or whatev his name is and he can make you housings for the 86 series but be warned they are alot more then yellows and yellows will be amazing enough unless you are in like scca runoffs.

yeah but I wouldnt pay anyone to make them, id rather find a reference that can show me how.

overall koni's kick a**... but the hieght adjustability is being called into question.

same here. 17s without a ridiculous slam is good enough. regardless im never gonna slam it to the point it looks overly low. as long as i get a nice fit im happy.

I have a nice set of coils as is... but being able to adjust ride height is important in determining what I sexperiment with or spend my money on. If I can't get that from a set of koni's its enough to make me look elsewhere... it would be nice if someone could prove otherwise.

but I can see that this isn't one of those "helpful" threads.

so instead ignore me, and act like I was never here.

Calm down dude. Someone just said max drop is 2.5" which IMO is more than enough. And this thread not "helpful"!?! I think this is the most helpful suspension thread I have read to help me determine which set up to go with.

wait but i thought you need a 3" drop on the s14s to bring the cog down properly. hold on i read about that somewhere. ok so after a quick chat with sr20goofus on 240sx forums i have decided on a set of stance gr+. the koni setup with the z32 uprights would be too much even if its the 8610s all around my rough estimate is $2780, the 8611front/8610 combo is roughly $3010. and i know by my mentality once i cross the cap ill end up using the 8611s which are wayyyy overbudget at $3200. the yellows are good. but im using z32s mainly becuase i have a set in my garage already. and i cant use yellows on those. so gr+ is what ill use. oh and i asked and didnt get a reply yet but can i buy the helper spring later if want to upgrade to the pro units? the koni 8611 is probably my unit for a car that sees more track use, but i cant justify that kind of expense right now. i might switch a few years down. but for now its stance.

ya 2.5 to 3 inch is all i need. but since z32 uprights are going in the best budget option would be to go to stances. but after project r32 i just might upgrade to full 8611 all around or ohlins

Stance has an Aluminum set last time I checked.....Also you need to call Jeff at 240sxmotoring and have a conversation about Stance with him...I spoke with him about this particular issue (which coilovers/struts.....etc..to go with). On Jeff's personal time attack car he is using stance, he used to have motons on it before and actually prefers Stance now. I'm pretty sure not every badass driver/racer(track not street) uses Koni and I'm also sure that they still win without them. It really just boils down to what works for you. The way I see it is; You can have the "best" suspension in the world and still be a s***ty driver/racer.....I'd reccomend getting something that isn't overly exspensive but will still give you great performance without breaking your bank....You can always get Koni's later down the road if you feel that coilovers are a limiting factor to your driving. Chances are that you have a way to go before that happens....Good Luck...
