S13FASTBACKSR, I am going to go ahead and try and make a rubber spacer to add a bit of preload to my springs. Going to try to make them out of hockey pucks, rubber cement and elastic bands. I will let you know how it goes. There has to be a better way, this seems too ghetto fabulous. I guess I could go out and buy more expensive coilovers (not bloody likely)

I was just thinking. since it seems that my height is only adjustable by the lower spring perch, putting in a rubber spacer will not really help at all. It will just have the effect of raising the height of the back a bit. What I need is a set of helper springs. I don't think there is much that I can do to remove the slack from the spring without effecting the ride height. I could just be talking out of my a$$ though. I am still learning all this suspension stuff so any suggestions would be appreciated. Sorry about the monster threadjack, this one was pretty much dead anyways.

i dont understand..you like where the height that your car is sitting at right now but you have some rattling because the spring is not seated with enough pressure..what you are saying is you adjust the height from the bottom of the spring? not the top? well it shouldnt matter where you adjust it from..wherever the spring is not seated correctly you should put a spacer..if you have an inch of space that is causing the rattle then put a 1" spacer to take away the rattle and you wont have to change the ride height..am i wrong? let me know what you mean

There is no way to fix the rattling without lowering it a little more unless you make somet type of spacer to go in between the spring and spring seat..other than that you would just have to lower the car a little bit more
a cheap set of "helper" springs will fix this problem

Yeah, that is what I figured I needed. The JIC helper springs are super expensive though. What cheap brands are out there? As long as I make sure the dimensions are the same it should work right?

bang for your buck = megans

what I'd get if I were you = HKS Hypermax II or silk roads
I thought Stance GR+ Pro and KTS coilovers were the best bang for the buck iirc from a review on this site a while back. I think AZhitman chimed in at one point or another saying that Stance and KTS coilovers would be the cheapest($$) coilovers to buy and anything less would be a waste of money since going with springs and shocks would be better. This included Megans, I think. Someone should write a coilover review and have it stickied because I see coilover topics on here all the time, whether in this forum or the 240sx forum.
