doubt that Asian had the highest average income. The numbers are skewed. There's a pretty good percentage of Asians in the US that live at or below the poverty line. Just the numbers are skewed because kids tend to stay with their families longer even thought they work which increases the average household income. Additionally there are situations where multiple families live in one home, with that many more people working, the per household income jumps.

i<3drifting, I'd have to agree that CNN does tend to take a more strange view on politics, but to say that FOX is balanced is pretty off the mark. If you look at the way they treat their guests, the conservative guest is always able to speak their mind without getting interrupted by the anchor, while the liberal guest is almost always getting interrupted. Also think about it this way, one of FOX news' top guys is related to Bush. I don't think there's a shred of fairness or balance you referred to in their broadcasts. Just alot of right wing rhetoric.

The US as a whole is a more right-leaning nation than most of europe, but then the political spectrum is somewhat different between the two continents.

Its all a bit warped.

Yeah. I don't really think so.

Read "Necessary Illusion's" to understand the real bias.

Read a 2003 book called "Bias" about left-wing bias in the media.

Its even more unreasonable that a person with this kkinda record would be promoted at all. His race should have nothing to do with this.

You made my point. One documented mistake after another, but somehow he quickly moved up. This raises serious questions over WHY he was promoted.

Not that I'm trying to speak for Vicki, but I think the point behind her original post wasnt the data itself, but the failure to report it accurately.

I dont really care if whites, asians, or salamanders have the highest income.

Actually, I'd be a little worried if salamanders had the highest income.

lol word. I was just pointing out that the data she pulled wasn't quite accurate either. Just raw numbers are really decieving especially if you just look at them without the reason for why they are.

I watched the Democratic Nat Conv on Fox. :) That is an experience. Fox and news go together like Disney and p0rn. If you cant tell, I'm not the biggest fan of Rupert Murdoch, maybe for entertainment, but not as a soucre of reliable, unbiased information.

Common misconception: Affirmative action ensures that unqualified minorities MUST be given unwarranted promotions/benefits. I deeply hope there are more qualified (and more ethical) minorites employed with the Times. They dont hire homeless high school dropouts simply because of their gender or race. They are an historic organization commited to providing news to the public. All of their employees, regardless of demographics, should support this goal. Blair did not.

Good point about why Asians' incomes is highest. After working with the Census Bureau for a few years, I beleive magic is more scientific than govt statistics...

How predictable is this thread! :D

The right-leaning folks dont like the NY Times and the left-leaning folks dont like Fox. Should tell us that theyre both biased sources, but as long as we have our bull**** filters turned on, we can sift through the verbage and acquire the useful information.

I still maintain Fox is not news. Its a show designed to entertain the viewer. I venture to say that anyone who thinks Fox News is a real news network is very gullable and misinformed (and therefore, a part of their core audience). The difference between Fox and ANY other news network Ive ever encountered is very clear. For the record, I like CNN. Maybe cause I like Ted Turner. Maybe cause I'm from ATL. Oh gotta go, the replay of Rush is about to start...

I don`t watch CNN for news, that would be like flipping through Import Tuner looking for actual mechanical tech articles!:) I watch CNN religiously for one reason, Miss Rudy Baktiar! Has little news goddess that she is. :D

Indeed. Shes a freaking babe. I also like Fox's (formerly MSNBC's) Laurie Dhue and Kiran Chetry.

Oh Kiran!

I have a weakness for articulate women.
