Hey guys. I need some help and advice on this. I got a new lightened flywheel and a whole new clutch kit (pressure plate and disc) installed. Now, the guys who did it were the type of guys that really does crappy swaps and such and so they really didn't care about their customers. But after I got it done, the clutch pedal had no pressure and it slipped alot! My friend said that it did the same to his 240sx, but he had to wait like a week before clutch pedal pressure and grip. Now, it's been over a month now. I have 'ok' pressure and grip when I switch gears, no grinds at all. Only problem is that it DOES NOT GRIP when I punch the gas pedal. It slips like crazy but I can feel it atleast gaining some mph but not as fast. I don't know if it's my transmission, my clutch setup, or the guys who did the install did a crappy *** job. Also I had them put in a new slave cylinder. I need help becuz I just want to make sure what the problem is before I pay someone $120+ just to take it look inside the transmission and it could have been a minor problem. Thanks guys.

Rebleed the clutch, then readjust the clutch pedal rod per the manual.

You didn't take it back to the shop and have them do it?

I did. Becuz the day I got it back I had to go to work. My boy came to take a look at it at work and we found at that they didn't bolt up the transmission mount and I was missing 2 bolts to the driveshaft/rear end becuz they didn't bolt up the bolts all the way and 2 of 5 bolts fully unbolted itself while I was driving to work. Fortunately I drove it back safely to the shop the next day and they fixed that with a pissy attitude. And after that, I find this happening. So 2 days after that, I took it back to them and they told me, "Look, you paid us to install a clutch kit for you and we did it. Whatever happens to your car after that we cannot fix it for free. You can't just keep coming back to us expecting to fix your problems here and there for free. We have to charge you for it. We don't know what was wrong with your car before it came to us." And I replied, "Look, my car was totally fine shifting smoothly. All I wanted done to my car is to install aftermarket clutch kit so it grips better and ITS NOT! So you want me to pay for your **** ups? You guys are the worst mechanics for the street racing scene I've ever dealt with." The shop is called TEAM REDLINE aka Aggressive Autosports in Orlando, FL. Later I found out in FloridaDrift.com that they have a really BAD reputation for swaps and mechanic work. Please please please stay away from them. My friend also had a friend that had a bad experience with them. His friend had a SR20 swap done by them that was done within a 5 month time frame. They kept lying to him that it would be done every week that he called in but in reality, no mechanic touched it or wanted to work on it and it was sitting in the back of the shop collecting dust. And he said if he knew I was going there, he would have told me to not go. So they basically refused to check it or fix it. I already tried bleeding the clutch fluid and re-adjusted the clutch pedal. Still doing it. Helped a little but still doing it.

hey was having the same problems came to be my front cover assembly had busted ( the shaft that the tob slides on ) but the reason y it busted was because the guy who did my clutch had re-welded it because it broke initially being the reason i replaced the clutch in the 1st place. only way to check for foul play when they were installing it, is to drop the transmission and look at the whole release mechanisim if its slipping like u explained the only things it could be are A: the clutch is already burnt out, Pads worn down too far or B: something in the release mechansim is preventing the clutch from making contact all the way. (keeping the pressure plate slightly bowed in still) also could be one of the cylinders. In my case Im replacing all the components just to prevent any more problems.

I work at a shop and I'm saying you got screwed...... possibility of a dirty clutch also.... just to add on to the previous comment. if some greasy kid was fondling your hardware it could cause such a thing. you'll need to pull the transmission to find out the problem. sry kid

You could be having problems with the infamous dampener box. There are two bleed points btw. It's a pia to bleed, going back and forth between the two bleed nipples. The dampener is worthless anyway, as the little valve in it gets crapped up, causing the slipping. I kept having slippage problems with my son's 92, until I got rid of the dampener.

Before you drop the entire transmission try bypassing the clutch dampener, rebleed and readjust. There are numerous threads on how to do it.

^Sounds like a post that could be useful to the OP

As for the "mechanics", if they have a reputation for being hacks, then shame on you for using them. That's what happens when you price shop

On that same note, if you supplied the parts, then it's your liability. You can blame the shop, but they can just blame the parts. I know my shop offers absolutely no warranty on customer supplied parts. You'll have to take the trans out and verify the mistake/fault before you can point blame at anyone.

Thanks for everyone's advice. Yes, I supplied the clutch and it was brand spanking new out of the box too. Everything shifted smoothly before they installed it, even the stock clutch. They must have messed it all up. I guess I have no choice but to pay someone to do another clutch job.

In flushing out the hydraulics they could have gummed up the dampener valve, like what happened to me. Before you spend $$$ on another transmission pull try the bypass trick.

let me guess, was it an ebay clutch kit?

i'm kinda having the same problem as you. i don't know if its the lightened flywheel but its kinda hard to match the clutch and the gas. when i just barely release the clutch its seems like its slipping (only on first gear). so far i got 300 miles so i got 200 more to go to break it in

There is a thread on this problem. Some say go speed bleeders with the bypass trick. One guy had a broken spring on the clutch. Before you throw bunch of money at it again, try the speed bleeders from spl parts with a teflon clutch line (about $36 with shipping). And check the MC and Slave. Here is the other thread. zerothread/303326
