Anyone know where to get the tiny bulbs that illuminate the climate control buttons? Mine stopped working, so I bought another climate control and only like 1 of the buttons light up. I noticed the factory bose head unit did the same thing. I looked at pep boys and they didn't have them.

Climate control bulbs instructions:http://fuzzycats.com/j30_diy.htm

go to the AC control PDF

The bulbs in the cruise control are soldered in. They are harder to replace. It's easier just to buy a new or used cruise control switch and pop it in.

If the bulb assemblies look anything like these in the pic they can be replaced with the Radio Shack bulbs. You have to unwrap the two leads and pull the old bulb out, reinsert the new bulbs and wrap the leads in the same way, and then trim off the excess. Easy fix.

I just parted out a 91Q and thought I had removed these bulbs from the back of the climate control unit so they should be replaceable. I've replaced the bulb in my dashboard cruise control switch also so it is repairable as described above since the stealership doesn't sell the bulb assembly separately.

Mike- did you blue tint, or just go with the brighter white where it used to be light blue?

A job I have to do, as my buttons haven't lit up since I took ownership of the Q.

The blue material is just a rubber shroud- It will pull off the old bulb and go right on to the new bulb. Some assemblies have it and others don't.

Ok, that looks pretty easy. I'll go to radio shack today then. I figured scottsdale infiniti had them, but I wanted to see if I could find them locally.

sry to bring this out of archive, but im taking these wont work.. http://www.directron.com/5ledgreen.html I manage to shave the bottom of em so i can get em in, but when i turn on lights, the climate control area started smoking.. I saw em come on, then they went off.. And i started smelling burned electricity.. i took em out immediately, and now im wondering this... If i order from Scottsdale, will that come with a new brown thingy, or is that only the bulb that they send.. Cause there doesn't seem to be a cheap way around this.!

Those are LEDs... not bulbs. So yeah, they will burn out almost immediately when you put a full 12V on them - vs. the 3.? they're supposed to have! The bulb assemblies from Scottsdale should have the base.

I have... they are LEDs with current limiting resistors built in. But there's no drop-in replacement in this application that I'm aware of - as in, thread it in the base and you're ready to go. If anyone has one, I would love to see them!

Most of the replacement LEDs that are available are 12V and 24V, but in wedge based in T-1 3/4 & T-3 1/4 package only. And you can get them in different colors. They are design to replace some of the incandescent lamps found in cluster instrumentation, audio amps and mixers. 7219 is a wire terminal (radial lead) bulb but we haven't design a replacement LED for it.

Old thread revival!!!

I did this job, using LED's instead of incandescent bulbs, and am quite happy with the result....

Look here.....

Send me your old climate control unit, and I will repair it and return it for cost...I will replace the bulbs with LED's, which shouldn't burn out for the rest of the life of the car!
