All lights (in the cluster and switches) are surface mount LEDs. Unless you are VERY good at de-soldering and soldering you will need to but the 08+ pieces. The only bulb you can switch out easily is the shift indicator.

You have to change the complete assemblies (instrument cluster, a/c control, radio control, clock, window switches, etc). Ebay, junkyard, dealer.

I tried looking into changing all the orange lights cluster, dashboard, illuminated kick plates...
Those parts are hard to find unless you find a used 08+ M that is being parted or you can buy them from the dealers.
I gave up on this project but good luck to you. Dean was able to change his cluster I believe he posted a pic on one of his threads.

The kick plats have been discussed previously but not recently. It isn't possible to change colours unless you are an expert at removng the embedded LEDs and re-soldering new ones. I have an 07 and I am not sure the 08 or later model kick plates are exchangeable with the 07. Dean is the master at this sort of thing, so I shall wait to see if he does it and then follow like a sheep, LOL.
I believe Dean was the one who first did the carbon fiber wrap on the center switch. I copied that and also wrapped the cup holder section of the center console.

For the DIYer

Get yourself the Lee LED filter swatchbook and if you care to try each filter colour over the existing amber and see which you prefer then take all the panels apart to get to the board where the LEDs are mounted. Mount small cut outs of the filter over top of each LED. Do not use crazy glue or anything which etches plastic. Try something like this http://innovasolutions.co.uk/products/a ... signfix-10

The filters really only work on white light. To change the amber lights on the 06-07 you have to change the leds, whole component, or somehow add blue and yellow light wavelength.

The kickplates are interchangeable but hard to find.
I can't find my old post but yes, the kick plates have 2 leds in them that give the color (one on each side):

The light is transmitted through a diffuser panel:

I broke the "INFINITI" glass when taking this one apart. But now, I can see what needs to be ground down FIRST to allow for dis-assembly and then epoxy it back together.

One of these days...

Oh crap. Hate when I break stuff.

So the filters wouldn't do anything at all? After reading about the filters I was almost sure you could change the amber to blue with a blue filter.

It would be a really really dark purple. Because primary colors are red, blue yellow you can't get blue from a red light. For instance, if you used a green filter you would yet a yellowish light. I learned all this crap in photography.

Ah. Never took any photography classes. I still think there may be a way to block the amber and have a blue. You're probably right about the decrease in intensity. I would do this but the thought of taking the entire interior apart just to change the leds is insane.
