Sure is, its a venue for at least 2 or 3 autocross clubs. It is SO much fun to meet alot of different types of people and race your own car, you guys should all come out if you get a chance. I'll be there on april 3rd for the start of the summer series.

[QUOTE=HashiriyaS14]NEWS FLASH: I just sold my 2 Datsun 510's to a local 510 fanatic. He told me there's an annual Datsun event out at Summit Point in May, and that myself and any local Nissan-heads I'd like to bring along are invited to come crash the party.

We get to watch vintage car races, there's general buffoonery, and there's on-track time.

How does 40 laps for like $40 sound? Pretty good huh? Unfortunately everyone has to stay behind the pace car, so no flat-out running, but you can still have some fun on a racetrack even when your top end is limited.

Can also piggyback onto an Audi event. Every October they rent the Summit Point main track, Jefferson Circuit and the skid pad. No pace cars, go as fast as you feel comfortable, and Nissans are welcome. Plus not that far from Baltimore. Food for thought....

I'm interested too.

check out the track's link.http://www.summitpoint-raceway.com

The facilities are not country-club (like VIR), but it's a fun place and it's not far away. Very popular track for car clubs with a paved paddock.

Dude I sooo know where that is, I'm from slower lower DE, I used to live in Milford, and went to HS at Sussex Tech in Georgetown DE I miss it down there, it sucks being up here in Philly, the streets are to crowded, the people are rude as hell and theres to much crime. Then again the only problem with slower lower DE is theres nothing there but miles of fields and chicken farms, so theres not really anythign to do.

Slappy, I worked in Elkton right after college. I even met my wife there. I had an apartment in Newark DE, so I'm familiar with it.

There are indeed are some hardcore Southerners there that are proud to point out they live below the mason-dixon line. But there's also a growing # of white collar folks (duPont, Thiokol, Daimler, UofD, etc) that live there because the housing costs are reasonable.

You may not realize it but Elkton is famous for offering same day marriages (like Las Vegas).Elkton also has always had some cheapest booze prices in the northeast. Of course some have hinted the two are related (snicker).

Why do all the cool girls gotta be spoken for...makes me sad. Anyways, I could help too but I don't know if I can trust my car to get there and back in one day. I really need to find me a used engine/trans to swap in, I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the miles on I have on the black now that I've owned the car for about a month.

http://www.audicarclubna.org/chapters/potomac

This is the chapter that I belong to. Potomac does track events which are actually hi performance driving schools at Summit Point and VIR. They also do a joint one with the Ohio chapter at BeaveRun. All of the chapters do these performance driving schools at all the major tracks. By far the cheapest and safest way to get your own car on the track for not a lot of money and no special requirements. These are not racing schools, so there's no trading paint, How how fast you go is up to you (no paced laps). You will find your limits and you'll have an instructor with you to raise those limits. You're also permitted to ride in instructor cars, which is worth the price by itself. Run groups are determined by level of experience. After a attending couple of these schools, and provided you don't drive like a fool, you start to run solo. There are other car clubs that do the exact same thing. Some are more pretentious than others. Some require owning the make car of the club, some have different types of activities. Audi is just one of many, but owning an Audi is not necessary.

http://www.virclub.comhttp://www.summit ... aceway.com

I believe both of these tracks offer FATT (Friday at the track), where you are permitted to run your own car on the track. The requirements are that you had to have attended a school like Audi, or Barber, Derek Daley, etc at that track. I try to avoid FATTs it because it's a much less controlled environment, a bigger diversity of horsepower and driver skill. It's not racing either but gets your car on the track, but much more unpredictable.

http://[email protected]

One of several major racing schools. Very expensive but comprehensive. You use their cars, which makes a difference in how you drive. You don't have to worry about thedrive home. The instructors are all professional, so the level of experience is higher and more focused than a car club. My first barber instructor competed in the Busch series.

The downside is the cost, which runs in the thousands. But if your after an SCCA license, this is the best route.

Autocrossing is a very fun alternative, even less money and you use your own car. But if your looking to hit triple digit speeds, you wont accomplish it in a parking lot.

J-Spec, I saw your car at the last auto-x at ripken. I was wondering whos it was. I'm down for some meets, also I have a bunch of subaru friends I hang out with in the area. Heres the link to our "Meetup" site : http://subaru.meetup.com/60/

We meet at least once a month and talk about stuff. I would like to see more nissan-heads out there though seeing as how right now Its just me, my friend Brian in his '92 SE-R. Join the site and introduce yourself. I'm not trying to be a post-pirate. But we have it pretty organized, all you have to do is join and we'll let you know where the meets and stuff are Enjoy!

A local meet would be awesome with you guys. I just suggested the group im a part of because it would be easier to just "jump in to" because we have events scheduled like months in advance. And we have a meet every 3rd saturday or friday of the month. I'd love to see some of you guys there!!!!!

Ok that sounds like a good plan.

This meets season will rock.I think we should :

1) GO to this meet as a group:http://carv2.com/site/content.cfm?id=382

Itsa pretty soon, for those who dont monitor this thread I will email reminders.

2) Start having some more regular meets, if we piggy back on the Subaru guys for a while, why not.Be sure to let us know when these meets are.
