like i said.. someone post a pic of their broken/malfunctioned pacesetter headers...

a few of the mr2 NA guys have ran pacesetters for 1+ years, fully wrapped, with zero problems what-so-ever... they didnt even reinforce the welds. people used pacesetter/hotshot back to back and reported unnoticeable performance changes... the best manifold for the 2.2's over there was a custom "shorty" style one-off header.

btw, pacesetters can be bought coated.. i believe part of the reason pacesetters are so cheap is because: 1)they're uncoated. 2)pacesetter as a company is HUGE, its not like they're a specialty shop. buying steel in bulk saves them tons and tons, so their profit margin can still be high with low priced products.

pacesetters have 2.5in collectors... whats your hotshot have again? ;)

wrap has been proven to help reduce heat and keep up velocity. theres really no arguing that. it would be like saying the world is flat. btw, you can purchase wrap just about anywhere, its relitively cheap too (20 bucks to cover a header roughly).

Show me some dyno pulls. And I don't want something made up in powerpoint.

The reason why pacesetter is not popular is BECAUSE of their coating! It flakes off like they used sherwin williams.

Standard black coating on the pacesetter is just to have it painted to prevent rust while shipping/storage of the header. That's it.

I agree as well that the pacesetter would performance better then the Hotshot with some good header wrap!

^^ werd. they're painted for shipping. the paint was never meant to last more than a day on a running car.

i think the reason pacesetter isnt popular is because its not bling bling SS. people rather buy overpriced shiney crap.

I just put pacesetters on my ride, My family is a family of mechanics, pacesetters are just fine! way better than stock and can challenge hotshot anyday. This is a big company people. headers with shine is bull. Not one reported pacesetter casualities for the 240sx. People need to stop falling into the hype.

Before any of you pacesetter bashers continue....can you quote what was printed on the sticker that was shipped on the header? Pacesetter puts a sticker on every header it ships that says the black paint is NOT a high temp coating. Seems to me that WAY to many of you are to quick to bash people, when all these folks ae doing is improving their cars AT THEIR OWN (NOT YOUR) EXPENSE!!!!! I just recently acquired an 89 fastback with a warped (not sure how) exhaust manifold, and installed a pacesetter header. After a new exhaust was installed for 50 bucks (minus the cat and resonator) it runs and sounds astonishingly better.

I for one am glad to see this thread hasn't "died" yet. I was looking into parts for the car I am working on and seeing the pacesetters' pros and cons discussed here has saved me a lotta search time. However, I want to check if I understand this right. Since the black on them is just for shipping and so on, I could strip it off and recoat it with high-temp ceramic paints and it would eliminate the rusting problem, right? Would this also help a pacesetter exhaust? I have heard the exhausts aren't any good either but as it is, I have no exhaust on it at all and can't afford the apex dual n1 yet.

Yeah you could strip the paint and repaint it with high temp, that would help im sure.

you can buy the pacesetters with the ceramic coating. its not ridiculously expensive like the hotshot. Its definatly something you want to do to the 240sx. People say it does not help but youll never know until you install them. It gives it power throughout the whole band just make sure you get the whole exhaust. At least 2.25 inch pipes. you wont be dissapointed. You dont have to got the whole 700 dollar exhaust route either. I have pacesetter headers, high flow catalytic, custom mandrel bend pipes 2.25 and a magnaflow strret series exhaust 2.25in 2.25 out and it was all about 300-350 bucks. thats with installation car responds way better than before. give it a try.

you CAN NOT paint headers with high temp paint. its good for 500-700 degrees, depending on what you buy. your headers will reach temps much hotter than this, and it will burn off. you can buy this other oven-bake type ceramic coating for $10 tho, and it works perfect.

Just so I know what to look for when shopping for a coating, does anyone know what the highest header temp I should expect is? I was looking as some for up to 1200 degrees, is that high enough? If I can't find a coating I like, I might just buy the already coated ones, but with my almost non-existant budget I'll exhaust (no pun intended) the other options first.

Just out for curiousity, do you remember what kind of paint you used, or what its max temp was? Thanx.

No need to apollogize ( spelling?). Any info is appreciated, and there are plenty of autozones around here.

Does anyone know what would be a good replacement for my cat.converter? I was looking at importperformanceparts.com and they had pacesetter cat. converters but for nissan trucks, would those work since some of the trucks use the KA24E or does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanx to everyone who responded to my questions. I have found the perfect solution to my high temp paint needs. Today when I opened up my latest catalog from Summit Racing, pow, there it was on the first page: "VHT's Flameproof paint" it is good for up 1500 degrees(F) and it states that it can be used on headers right in the ad. For $8 a can, it doesn't sound too bad.
