I have a 167k mile engine in my 93' 240sx. Im too poor to buy a more expensive 240sx with less miles, since im only 17, but still want it faster. I have a little money saved up (about 1k) and im tired of my friends bit*hing about how his 98 vtech sequantial prelude crap can beat my 240sx. I havent raced him yet, i dont know why, just havent gotten around to it but when I do I want to make sure I can leave him in the dust :) Im not worried about it beating a camaro right now, i just want to get it up in the 200's just to say it has over 200 :)

I see alot of things for a turbo, but no turbo? Also, how much hp all together does that give you? 200 right? Seems as though it would give you more :) What part will give you 5hp for $8? Im just full of questions! Thanks :)

lol...you really think i'm going to tell anyone without getting some money first!! Who ever want to cough up $200.00 first gets it.

That list was written by a fellow 240 owner a year ago. The turbo must of been a t3 out of a z31.

Okay, I understand a bit about cars, but this is kinda confusing me. Can someone hook me up with some info?

Isn't the "Turbine housing" the actual snail shell that the turbine is in? Shouldn't it then be possible to replace this $150 with a used turbo? (Friend of mine's got a Eclipse he upgraded the turbo on...)

You can get a used (t3)turbo for $50. You might as well overhaul it while your at it. The $150 might get you a t4 housing to make it a t3/t4 hybrid. Does that clear it up??

If you run a fuel cell with 110 octane, sure why not. Nitrous needs high octane to give you all it's power. On pump gas, your not going to get the advertised(75) hp. At $4-5 a shot, it gets out of hand quickly. You'll still need a cat back and intake regardless

Id say rebuild with SOHC pistons to bump up the compression ratio, I/h/e, and cams if you can afford it. That should get you near 200hp and you wont have to always fill up a bottle.

full cat back, headers, cams, pulleys, cam gears, get rid of a/c. little stuff can make it faster. dont know if it'll get u over 200.

lol nitrous, thats some dangerous s***. Think ill pass on that, i might just go with intake, full catback, and headers, hopefully that will get me atleast 180. I was thinking turbo kit, with the intercooler and everything, but thats just way too complicated, considering I have no idea how to install one myself, and its way expensive probably to get it installed. On top of that, they dont sell 93' 240 turbo kits. I would have to start from scratch and i mean start from scratch, I have no idea what i need to look for. I just know i need a turbo, wastegate, blow off valve, maybe new headers and intake to be safe but no idea what kind or anything, OR where to look. Man im pathetic, i need to take a mechanic class or something. If anyone wants to help me on this, feel free!! thanks

Nitrous isn't dangerous. Just because a car blew up in "The Fast and the Furious" doesn't mean jack. Go do some research on nitrous street cars. I'm sure you'll like what you see. I'd do it myself but I'd rather save up more and go turbo.

just doesnt sound like a healthy thing to do to your car, even though turbo isnt either, dont think its as bad as nitrous. Its also expensive, like paying for super high octane gas everytime you fill up. I would do it if i drag raced, but i dont, so im gonna stick with something thats not so much of a high maintenance and expensive in the long run. plus, is it legal?

Most 240 owners build there own turbo kits(for under $2k) and save a $1,000 over a ready built kit. You don't have to fill up your 17 gallon gas tankwith 110 octane to run nitrous, just run the extra fuel(110 octane) from a fuel cell in the trunk. Few people would do it though. I have a hotshot header i'll sell yea!

Get an intake, exhaust, headers and then a bottle. You'll be taking money from guys in Honda's all day long. Just make sure that you're racing for money to cover the cost of the N2O habit. ;)

The 240 has a header ( 1 header). hotshot is a n/a header and is the best out there. On a turboed car, we call it a manifold. The small parts are whats hard to figure out what you need(the parts are listed above). You can piece one together for $1,500 easily. Most shops would charge you $800-1,200 to install. Why so high? <--You have to take the bumper part off to put the intercooler on. If you run 5 psi, you won't have to worry about a intercooler. The hardest part to doing it yourself, i/m/o is the oil return line to the oil pan.

im going to go ahead and make a seperate thread for turbo'ing. something for the first generation 240's, it basically summerizes everything we talked to here and made one big question, hopefully someone will answer it. I know its a good one too :)
