you wont get 200rwhp out of basic bolt ons for the Ka24de...many have tried and top out at around 180. turbo is the way to go...if you want to run nitro...have fun...but you might blow your engine quickly depending on the condition it is in.

if u do blow your engine you can always get a new ka for cheap

but instead of you can save up for turbo you can always get an engine swap of an sr20det for like $3000- 4000, that's a whole like new engine with turbo. and it's already over 200hp

also the sr20 is engineered as a race engine while a ka is not.however, there are some people on this forum that have sucess building a ka24 w/400hp running on stock internals.

but the bad thing is no one knows how long it will last.

Isn't the "Turbine housing" the actual snail shell that the turbine is in? Shouldn't it then be possible to replace this $150 with a used turbo? (Friend of mine's got a Eclipse he upgraded the turbo on...)

The turbine housing is the "snail shell" on the exhaust side. The compressor housing is the "snail shell" on the intake side.

oh and also, i dont have an extra 4k sitting around for a new engine. im 17, i wanna stick with my ka for now. From what I hear, i would buy another ka before a sr20, just because there awesome engines, just havent really got to prove themselves yet in the turbo categorie.

I am new to the 240sx thing and also curious how to get some decent power. I agree with burnin 240sx though.

My question is what do you guys normally do for engine management when you turbo your 240's?

You'll be lucky to hit 160 at the wheels with all the basic upgrades on a NA KA. The potential is there, but in naturally aspriated form it was designed for torque and reliablility, not performance, and it takes alot of money to change that.

Suspension might be a better place to start if your not ready to invest in tire destroying hardware quite yet.

Yea.. exactly... I mean, you can put in SOHC pistons, cams, do some headwork, header and exhaust, call up Jim wolf technologies, and have them reprogram your ecu.. i say you could maybe be at like.. 170-180 to the wheels.. JWT does magic

I know a guy that has the SOHC pistons, a rom tuned ECU, I/h/e, pullys, and flywheel. And hes putting down 204 to the weels. Runs great just has to keep good gas in it.

Extra 4 grand for a new engine? Hehehe. Dude, if you EVER paid that much for a KA motor, I would slap you.

You can get a good condition, low mileage SOHC motor (though it might not be totally complete) for about 300 bucks. And a DOHC motor for around 400.

KA motors are cheap! People are always killing their 240sx and parting out their engines.
