Poppin' flames? I assume you are cat-less? If you're running cat-less, why bother to hook up the EGR in the first place?

I went to install my cat-delete pipe yesterday and then realized that i need to replace my header first (massive ball of rust and leaking at the cat). I was disappointed until i saw (today) that you could get them so cheap on ebay.

The EGR does not recirculate unburnt fuel unless you have a dead cylinder or a poor running engine. The EGR system sends inert gas(co2) back into the intake which displaces oxygen to reduce the amount of 'burn' in the cylinder. Less oxygen to ignite the fuel is less heat and lower NOx emissions.

Is the S14 cat the thing under the drivers seat? Or is that a resonator?

Does the S13 EBAY headers, have the o2 sensors on them? And i'd also have to block off the EGR crap since i dont have it eh?

Ok here's what I noticed.

SOHC w/ OBX header.1) the O2 sensor is rubbing on the firewall. Not to bad but if I needed to change the sensor, I would have to remove the header. If you go this rout, just do a test fit w/ O2 sensor installed, mark the spot on the fireall where O2 sensor will hit, and pound the firwall in a little.

2) The egr tube does NOT line up. To solve this, I just put the header on loosely (nuts on just a few threads) and had my dad use a prybar to pull tube over while I screwed it in, then finished bolting the header on. No biggy.

3) the header comes very close to the block right where the transmission bolts up. I think it might even be touching.

4) cat bolted right up but had to manuver the bracket a little to get the bolts in.

5) it made a big difference in the sound of my exhaust. I have a brand new cat, 2.5" piping all the way back to a 3" in dual 2.5" out magnaflow muffler. At idle it's got a very deep tone but when I get up above 4K it's a lil raspy. I like it a LOT. It does get a little anoying on the highway though. Not so anoying that I would ever stop driving it.

6) I could deffinatly feel a difference in power. Good difference. It does still fall flat after 5.5K. Thats where I shift anyway (for those "spirited" driving moments) and I'm still in the power zone after I shift so it's all good.

7) the finish was nice. Polished stainless steel. It turns into a bronze color when it warms up and stays bronze. The finish is still polished. Just make sure to clean it of fingerprints before you start it for the first time. Any residualls will stain into the finish and wont come out.

I ordered my header from tuningdepo.com off ebay. $195 shipped and it arived in 3days. ordered it on sunday it arived on wed. Deffinatly a good seller.

All in all, I like it a lot. couldn't be happier. (unless they sent me a smokin hot GF with it) but hey, beggers can't be choosers.

I have an OBX knock-off for S-13 KA24DE

It required the steering joint to be un-hooked to install. I used heat wraps from Advance. Single 50' covered it from top to bottom end. Also coated it with silicone spray made for the wraps.

The CAT was naturally removed since the down pipe replaces it.I haven't notice any change in color, well most of it are covered any way. The thing cools off quicker than the engine itself.I mated it to a 3" pipe, resonator and 4" HKS Hi-Power tip.It sounds very nice. Has a very even sound across the rpm range.

For blocking the holes in it I just asked the Rainbow Muffler to weld them shut because I didn't want to wait for proper plugs and I couldn't find any in local stores. The holes are larger than 1/2" and smaller than 3/4".

O2 Sensor on S-13 OBX I have is in stock position. It doesn't have any issues. But you can't use the stock heatshield on those headers, hence the heat wrap which looks 1,000 times better and give room to work on inside the engine bay.

Highly doubt it. as long as you have the KA's half weighted crank and a stock head, you won't be making any peek power after 5800RPM...

Well this thread's been succesfully raised from the dead. Anyway. You need to check out the Xtune header its the one I have. Heres the link to the thread I made about it. zerothread?id=384694. When you get rid of the cat. and get your 3 in. exhaust its gunna be pretty loud.
