yeah thats where i keep mine....around -3 or -2 ish. but it just sucks that you pay so much for a car and the speakers suck so bad! oh well guess i'm gonna start looking now for new ones! that way when they blow i'll be ready.

/i actually have to agree with him on that. Thats half the benefit of buying a car new. If anything screws up, its on them unless its straight abuse proven. As for the speakers I usually have mine on plus 2 and never turn up the volume past 15. The passenger side has recently gained a rattle already, but its not like a blown speaker, more like a loose panel near the speaker.. Aside from that, they rattle my mirrors O_O no bose for me either

yeah i have mine up sometimes to like 23-24....but i dont think its the speaker either. i think its something in the door since it only seems to affect those ones. when i took it to the dealership about 2 months or so ago they said they didnt hear it but i could hear it standing outside the car!!! so they did go ahead and replace it but it still does it! so i dont know what to do now!

I experience the same thing. The problem is that the factory speakers aren't meant to play much Bass, that's what subwoofers are for! To solve the issue, all you need is money lol. Aftermarket deck with built in cross-overs (High pass filter for speakers to play treble, LPF for Subs to play bass), subwoofers of your choice, depending on how much bass you want, amp, and some sound deadening.

I'll eventually do this after I pay most of the car off... I sold my set-up from my sentra . I miss my two 12"'s haha... so loud! If money is an issue the only free fix is to temporarily turn your Bass down.

i have the bose system and even it sux. i also have a 02 altima with bose and the system sounds to this day better than my 08 coupe. i think it has something to do with the dash board speakers. they rattle and sounds like **** all the time in my car when listening to music loud. pisses me off, but i'll be getting a new system pretty soon.

On my stock bare bones system, I set the balance 2 notches toward the back seat and at this point you can take the base as high as you want without a rattle (except for the distortion). I often take my system to max playing daft punkt on may zune which is set at 18/20.

but that really makes me mad that you have to drop money on a new system just cause nissan wanted to cheap out on it! and i tried the putting it 2 to the rear and it makes it not as loud! i listen to alternative sometimes and love it loud!!!! so i guess i'll just keep it in the negative and keep it loud!!! it's just weird cause my 06 civic stereo didnt sound like this!!!! and neither have any of my other 11 cars or so that i've had.

I listen to alternative too, If you have an mp3 player hooked up then you can just turn the volume up a little on that and it sounds just fine, I have my zune at 90% and when I max the volume I get no rattles and no distortion, By the way my base is at +2 and my treble at +4

Same here. Sometimes factory options aren't such a bad way to go, huh?

I've put aftermarket sound into almost every car I've had for the last 20 years, but not this one.

Did you get the kappa's or reference? Also a new head unit or powering them via AMP?

I have non bose with a Pioneer F700BT unit. I played with the crossover/whatever settings and made the speakers play mids and highs while the sub plays the lows. Works well and I am surprised as to how well the speakers work for stock speakers. It sounds totally fine and I am used to listening to Elemental Designs, Alpine and Infinity speakers. They compete very well actually (stock VS what I have hear). Might just be my setup but if you tune them properly you can get the best out of them.

I'm not saying don't replace them though, I'm planning on replacing mine very soon and I want more mid bass and a decent set of tweeters.

actually there was something on this topic a while ago.... like the rattle was coming from the rear because there was a space between the rear window and the er... rear board thing? try sticking some socks in there.... i have two socks in there and it stops all the rattling completely

i can take pictures later if u guys dont kn what im talking about

I have that very problem!! Like 2 weeks after I picked up my new car I got this horrible rattle that was coming from the back seat/speaker area. First I thought it was the tail light, then I thought maybe the speaker was busted. I took it in and it turned out that one speaker was busted......but when I drove it home I still heard the rattle....after two more times of taking it back to be looked at (all the service guys confirmed the rattle), they said there was nothing that could be done.

I'm p.o.'ed cause I paid extra for "premium sound" and now i'm told that I basically need to leave my bass at 0, and can't turn it above 17 depending on the "type of music" I listen to!!

Anyways, I really wanted to try your sock think since you said it worked.....can you post a picture of how you placed them? I really really appreciate it!!

The only thing that rattles on my car when i had the stock system was the skylight. The front part when I had the top open I rattled like crazy. I just leave it closed from now on. Other than that no rattling. Just find out where the rattle is coming from and yeah stuff a sock in between that section. No more rattles.
