Dude if you are planning on making these pieces for people then you will want to do your homework first. Once again I think its really cool that you are taking initiative and doing this but make sure you know what you are doing before you start. The female/ male mold question is a little unnerving, if you have even the slightest experience of working with composties this should not even cross your mind. I would really suggest that you read a few books on composite construction before you attempt this. There is a great website called
http://www.fiberglast.com, where you can buy a plethora of books that will better educate you on composite construction, and they also carry every composite material you could ever dream of (be warned they are quite expensive.) Trust me on this the difference between the guy that goes out and spends $500 and destroys 4 molds before he gets one decent piece, and the guy that goes out and spends $30 on a perfect mold his first time is knowledge. I have met TONS of guys that have wasted tons of money on materials, time, etc. and they all come to me with questions of how they can should make their molds after they fail the first 5 times. When I ask them where they learned their techique or mold theory they are always like - "whats that?" or better yet " this guy i know". Books are your best friend when working with composites and are essential for proper theory. Think of books as driving school - Carbon Fiber is a Ferrari, without proper training you might be able to make it move but you won't get nearly all you can out of it. Once again best of luck to you and I hope it works out.If you have any other questions you can email me at
