I hope more states do this...

I'd wager people will use AZ as an experiment in it...

responsible gun ownership ftw.

<-recently got another rifle. a VERY nice Moisin Nagant M38 Carbine. I'm not sure if it's ever even been shot.

No need to, Vermont has been the same way for a while.

If I lived in either state I'd still make sure to get a CCW permit though for use in states with reciprocity. ;)

^ You might be better off just getting a Utah permit. Its valid in 30 something states.

AppleBonker wrote: See, this logic works if the state/country only contained law-abiding citizens. Those "gangstas" you're referring to couldn't care any less about permits. Regardless of the law, they're carrying and most likely concealed. Take Chicago (I have some knowledge since I basically live there) for example. You can't even obtain a license to own a handgun in the city. Now watch the news and see how many people are killed every day by handguns within the city limits. Because of the law, I would never own a handgun in the city (it's illegal). But the criminals clearly have no problems with it.
That's a good point, and I agree with it. What I originally meant was different than it came off as however. I'm not so much talking about the career criminals and general "very-bad-people", but more the "law-abiding for the most part but generally stupid people" who decide to have a "hero" moment. The more I think of it, though, I would imagine that the intelligent armed citizen would outnumber the crazies. Time will tell I guess, it seems as though it has worked for Vermont and Alaska so far.

Either way I'm applying for a PA License to Carry in another month :)

You missed the point...that being, just because a state doesn't require a CCW permit doesn't mean that you still shouldn't get one. Reciprocal carry in other states is precisely why Vermont issues a CCW permit even when it's not required by law.

yeah, but it's been that way forever...this is recent so it'll make a scene.

I still need to get a TN CHL...I've talked about it for like 5 years now...

I really need to get one of those. Even though it would be absolutely useless here in the Communist State of California. :tisk:

USA Carry CCW Reciprocity Map

With the constantly changing legal landscape it's still wise to contact the proper state authorities before toting packing in another state.

But it's better than nothing and serves to remind me why I'm still semi-glad I left Illinois in general (and Chicago in particular despite my love for the city). After Wisconsin the the worst place is Kalifornia, they're a "May Issue to Residents" state that doesn't honour any out of state permits despite the fact that their permit is honoured by many other states.

Maybe they could issue non-resident permits and charge for them to help fill the state coffers instead of all those crappy commercials with Das Governator and Comrade Kennedy, errr...Shriver. Still, with him portraying Kalifornia as a good place to go is the best acting he's done in years. :chuckle:

Florida still requires a permit for concealed weapon, and it's illegal to weld a weapon in public, carry non concealed, but we now have the right to shoot people breaking into our homes (can you say 'CASTLE LAW' - copied nearly word for word from the Texas law).... :)
