Amen to that.... Automatics with "mufflers" tend to sound real bad and can picked out of a crowd. Although i have heard and auto with an apexi n1 and it sounded ok... Evenly matched drivers the s14 should pull out way ahead. I pulled on a moded integra for almost a 1/4 mile put he had more top end...

Just out of curiosity what is it about autos that make it sound worse than Manual?

Thanks for the link Grimple1 I'll be sure to keep it below 1.5rpm's and that was an all around great post. I think I'll have to copy and past that one in the future. Give credit to where it's due ofcourse,

Nothing, they both sound the same.. just when its time to shift, theres a longer pause in between shifts with a manual. Don't listen to these guys when they tell you these things.

The **** are you on? I mean, I'm not a fan of automatics, but let's not spread blatant lies here. How is your transmission going to alter your exhaust gas flow? I'm really waiting to hear this one.

Well I'll know for sure how it sounds in a little more than a week. It can't be worse than what I'm dealing with now.

Yessir 240, the race will be either next weekend or the weekend after. He lives about an hour from me but we should be getting togeather soon to set up some linux servers. I'll be sure to post the results but unless he goes out and starts modding his engine I'm 99% sure he will be sucking my tail pipe.

I was just over at phatka-t.com and it seems they're experimenting with the Ford C4 Auto Transmissions in 240s.

The Ford C4 Trans have an amazing parts support as mustangs have used them from something like 20 years.

Granted not everyone cares about straight line racing but manual shifting = less ET.. PERIOD

Not necessarily. For one, an auto transmission setup for drag racing is not streetable, as it'll feel like you're constantly driving a manual without knowing how. And if it's not, it won't shift faster than a manual so it'll only have an advantage if your car is turboed. Second, if your car has a clutch it's capable of better launches. The total tenth of a second you make up in shifting isn't going to compensate for that unless the car is extremely high powered NA where launching it with a clutch becomes far more difficult, or it's turboed where the AT won't lose boost when shifting.
