My machinist got mine of with a torch aswell. Made two holes opposite each other and broke it in half.

welll, it turns out it torched two of my connecting rod bearings right thru to the rod, im starting to think its oil starvation that killed it, as the sump was pretty plugged.

just got a new oil pump and sump, and a new gear for the end of the crank, since we had to bust off the old oilpump and crank all at once.

so, the same guy who sold me the crank, has the rods out of the same motor, so, gonna buy those as well...that way hopefully i can keep everything together.

so the rods are for 100% the same as ca18de rods out of a pulsar?

just want to make sure, no offense float

No not all the ca rods are the same. IIRC the ca18det are the beefiest. The jdm and usdm ca18de are different aswell. If anyone else can chime in on this... now...

JDM CA18DET and CA18DE rods are supposed to be the same.

USDM rods aren't the same.

I second this. The pulsar's rods are puny. The JDM CA18DE/CA18DET rods are identical.

they can be had for 500-550. maybe 700 if they are made out of solid gold, and then they wouldnt even work well!

ok, just to recap from earlier in my thread..i asked if the ca18de crank is the same....i didnt specify pulsar ca18de......is it the same? looks the same.

i just had the pulsar crank checked and it is awesome shape, spot on in every way. Would be a shame if i couldnt use it.

thank you

im sure itll be fine. the only thing i can think of being different would be something to do with the oil pump, but i doubt it.

You're fine. All of the DOHC CA cranks are the same.

yes the bottom gear is the same as ca18de pulsar, same as the oil pump.

well update: Bores are perfect, no boring necissary. Waiting on measurements from the main journals to see if the heat warped them at all....i really hope it didnt, because the shop tells me they cant line bore it because of the different journal sizes.

Crank is now polished and ready for action, found some rods (i hope)

will keep updated, just for you float

Ok, another question. Kinda unclear in the fsm, but, the little buckets that sit on top of the valves...anything need to be done with those? And are they all the same, as far as which valve they go on?

thanks alot

Those are the hydraulic lifters. The only think you need to do with them is mic the lifter and space it sits in and make sure the clearance is correct for each one before you put them in. The clearance is in the FSM. I've NEVER seen one out of spec.
