Here's the deal swapped a s13 transmission into s14. Question I have is will car still start without cas installed. I know it will pull CEL. Bit shouldn't it at least start. Motor cranks over just no starts
also does anybody have or know where i can find a scematic or pic or anything showing exactly where the holes need to be drilled to install cas. and yes I have searched obviously not finding what i am looking for. so no need to say anything about using search. lol. thanks i need to get this car back on the road. :gapteeth:

Ummm..... I think you are mistaken. The CAS is a cam ange sensor, and yes you definitely have to have it as it sends the pulse for the spark plugs. But if you have a KA then you don't have a CAS.

crank angle sensor is in the distributor. And the KA does have one.

Yea I don't know why I put cam. But still, no one refers the KA's as a CAS, its a distributer. And you shouldn't need to drill a hole for it. Unless your trying to do a custom setup? As long as your distributer is plugged in and working, then that wouldn't be your problem after swapping trannies. Try going over everything and make sure its all plugged up correctly. You didn't really give much information to go by. My guess though is its something to do with the lower harness

i think his talking about the crank sensor(?) that on the transmission bell housing on the s14's... if u use a s13 transmission u do have to drill a hole on the bell housing to be able to install that sensor..

yeah the crank sensor was what I was talking about. I found where it is supposed to go but how exact does it have to be. being a sensor I would figure it to be pretty important. what i am looking for is a drawing with exact measurements on where I need to drill.

You know it's not part of the loop, just checking that the crank is spinning really. I would mock up the washed like he did in the same position. This is one of those things where it just need to be close. Look at your old trans for reference too

thanks man. ill try to get it as close as possible i guess. old trans is long gone before i realized this would have been some problem. luckily I have 2 5speeds to work with. unfortunatly they are both s13. i just cant get this motor to start and it is the only thing left I can think of. timing is correct wires all hooked up vacume lines are on but my spark is a little erratic. its trying to fire but only for a short time. then just cranks. Im confused and getting really discuraged.
