This is actually easier than it sounds but since I ended up having to use an s13 trans in my s14 I figured I snap some pictures and tell the noobs about it. I didn't see a formal write up anywhere so yeah, here it is. The transmissions are exactly the same externally. All that is missing is the crank angle sensor holes. The speed sensors are different but you simply swap them out, s14 5spd speed sensor just slides right in and bolts in the same hole. I listed the trans front and rear main seals because you should just do them because the trans is out of the car. Save yourself the trouble later. The rear dust boot for the drive shaft is different on the s13 trans but the s14 drive shaft fits right in. Removal, installation, wiring, swap of the manual transmission can be found here
zerothread/187181. I'm only covering the sensor modification so you don't get cels on an obdII s14.
Here is a list of what you'll need...-s13 ka24de 5spd transfront and rear main seals for transmission (all three gaskets, s13 or s14 same part number)-s14 5spd speed sensor-1/2" drill bit-Metric 6 1.0 tap-13/64" drill bit-s14 crank angle sensor
Here is a pic of the s14 transmission for reference...
Here is a pic of the s13 trans that I modified to accept the s14 crank angle sensor. I also used a stud instead of a bolt because the bolt is such a pita to work with. It is an m6 1.0 thread pitch. Drill the hole with the 13/64" bit, tap the hole with the metric 6 1.0 tap, then thread the stud in with some loc-tite. Drill the large hole in several stages ending up in 1/2". Here is a pic for reference...
If you go back and look at the s14 trans pic you will see there is a raised area that the sensor rests on. Because I am anal retentive about stuff like that I took an aluminum 1/2" hole washer and notched it to fit around the stud. Now the sensor sits at exactly the same place that it would have on the s14 trans. See the next two pics for reference...
Here is the finished product. It's your call whether or not to use the steel cover that originally came on the s14 sensor. If you're not a jackass you should be able to handle taking the sensor out before breaking it. Here is the final pic for reference with the nut installed (use any of the thousands of 10mm nuts from anywhere on the car, hand tight of course).
I am humble, if you see something I neglected to add please add it
