I do rear facing behind the passenger seat in my s13 hatch and the passenger seat still has more leg room than my wife's Mazda3 5 door... figure that one out.

i wouldn't go so far as to say that 240's aren't safe for transporting kids. they aren't the safest vehicles, but they are far from unsafe. i will say that those who are choosing car seats because they match the interior really need to re-evaluate what's more important in their lives.
