I would be very interested...but I'm sure they are going to be pricy. I'm thinking $500.

Probably one (or both) of two reasons.

1) Unpainted carbon fiber is street tyte, yo! (gag me with a spoon. I'd have mine painted if I ever got one)

2) Carbon fiber is lighter than steel. Less weight = good.

Yeah, I understand why people go for the CF hoods...just a little to rice for my taste. Usually, fit and finish is poor on many of these hoods. The weight argument just seems extreme when compared to cost unless you are a hardcore racer. Just my two cents.....

There are potential safety issues. The hoods of modern vehicles are designed to act in certain ways in accident situations. CF has completely different properties and will act in completely different ways. Since there are countless ways of laying up CF, how it will act in an accident is most likely unpredictable. I can't see any company spending the money to do real world testing on such a limited production item. I'm just speculating. I could easily be way off base.Anyone have any experience in this area?

There is some language in this vid that some may not like, so be forewarned, but it is funny!

I just find it funny that usually people who buy carbon fiber hoods also weigh their car down with 400 lbs worth of stereo equipment.

Hey, didn't you know that EVERYTHING in Need for Speed: Underground 2 is a performance-enhancing mod?

HAHAHA now thats funny bro! But true too! You put a carbon fiber on a Versa and it will look horrible i think, dont get me wrong i love my versa, but a carbon fiber hood? come on! whats next, the shopping cart wing? And i mean no offense to anyone when i say this, but if you want to put a carbon fiber hood on a V, you might as well go trade it in for a honda and look like everyone else on the road.

Very good point. But then again, it does appeal for some people. I also want to bring up the characteristics of the hood. If the design is clean and keeps the V sleek and clean cut, then I don't see why not. But yes if it has scoops just for the hell of it, then there is no need at all. Maybe the time and development should go towards other performance parts that can aid the V without breaking it slowly i.e. maybe a ram air or headers.

Same here bro, I had a Memphis Sticker on the back of mine but then it was broken into so I took the sticker off and got a new alarm, they didnt take anything luckily cause I still had the factory alarm on it. Now i just have my Maximum Sound (the people who hooked me up) on the small side windows.

If you're just looking for the look - why not just buy some carbon fiber weave and bond it to your metal hood? Use a soft brush & and hair dryer.

The "weave" is more or less cosmetic in something like a hood anyway - as the hood is not exactly difficult shape or structure to make.

for that matter, you could just buy some carbon fiber patterned vinyl and stick it on the hood to look like carbon fiber.

After all those chops, I think that hood only looks good on the red and the sapphire blue Versa. It just looks out of place on the other colors. Once again, props go out to bulld0g for the photo skills.

Just had to chime in real quick here. I have one coming from Seibon in about two weeks and list cost will be $600.00 and will weigh about twelve pounds and it feels real light which DOES help the overall weight of the car and helps the power to weight ratio which helps performance. You can paint them if so desired so if the Black turns you off but want the weight reduction.

AND, they are working on the rear hatch assy also after the first new one I sent was damaged and I had to ship a second one so that should be ready in about a month or two but the way things have been going might be longer. This will add in the weight reduction even more.

When I tested the prototype it was amazingly light yet strong and the fit was amazing which kind of surprised me for a prototype so I told him not to change a thing......

So if there is enough interest maybe.....just maybe I can get a group buy.
