Funny you posted this because just last night I saw a Toyota Corolla with one and thought to myself, "WHY?" Not like a 130HP Corolla would actually see the difference

I guess it's just for looks. Or maybe the owner thought a light-weight carbon-fiber hood would let his Corolla do a 1/4 mile in 20 seconds instead of 35, thereby increasing his pride.

if it was an 03-08 they arent much slower than the 2.5 altima. and if it was an XRS, then it is faster. so dont bash cars you dont know anything about. :

Is the Corolla XRS really faster? I wouldn't know because I don't follow Toyota cars, but after googling the 0-60 times, they seem to be 7.5 seconds. After googling the times of the 2.5 Altima coupe, I seem to get 7.2 seconds?

And I hope the wasn't directed toward me or my comment. If you look at my original post, it said that I saw a Corolla with a carbon fiber hood. In my opinion, that is RIDICULOUS!! The Corolla at any trim level, is not a race car. Neither is an Altima, hence, the non-existent carbon fiber hood on my car.

im comparing the XRS to the sedan not the coupe as they are both four doors and it is more of a fair comparison. i for one am not a fan of carbon fiber products on anything simply because i do not like the way it looks. however, it belongs (or doesnt belong) on one car just as much as any other. I just dont think bashing other cars is needed when somebody is just trying to sell something or give info on a product.

If you consider "With a carbon fiber hood?!" to be bashing on another vehicle, then so be it. You're right, I'm wrong. My apologies for the Corolla bashing

Now that type of car with a CF hood would be ok. Not a 130HP daily driver?!!

I know that's what he meant. I couldn't find any image of a Corolla with a CF hood. Guess nobody has been stupid/brave enough to actually do it yet.

I think the altima coupes dont look bad with a carbon hood, depending on wat color ur car is. My car is white, and i think it would look pretty nice with one, just have to wait til my original hood is in bad shape or paint chipped, before i get one...or if its cheap and on sale haha

I wish I had snapped a pic of that Corolla with the CF hood the other night. I was in my truck so I would've had a perfect shot of it

I doubt I'll go with a CF hood. I think our hoods are pretty lite myself compared to my 02 SpecV hood.

Who actually buys the hood so it makes the car like a bit lighter? i dont think many people buy it for that reason...more for the look

if people wanted...the can do a 1/4 without a hood even on it hahha

i agree. even though i do not particularly like the look of CF for the most part, that is the reason for probably 9/10ths of why people get CF hoods, Trunks, dash parts, Roof overlays, etc...

First of all its a Corolla.... enough said....and why would you want one with over 600hp youll just have a 600hp FWD piece of S***......id rather spend the extra cash to get something with more class which you probably could have with all the money you put into your 600hp pocket rocket...

because some people are car enthusiasts and are more interested in the build and testing limits, then the car itself. just because your car is nicer does not mean you can insult other people efforts at enjoying their hobby, damn. i agree with you for the most part and would rather put that money into getting something a little bit more reasonable and reliable than a 600 fwd monster, but to each his own, and whoever owns it probably loves it and wouldnt trade it for an Altima. and "piece of ****"? its one of the best selling cars in the WORLD and it outlasts altimas all day long. get your head out of your ***.

Actually my cousin had a '89 Corolla, and it has well over 350k miles on it now and it's still a grocerie getter, original motor... cars can last that long as long as you take care of them propperly... not a daily driver anymore, but it's was running strong from Fairfield to San Fran and back about 3 times a week as my uncle used to drive it when he didnt car pool to work... I say had, cause my cousin no longer drives it... but it's still in the family... and It also depends on what year Corolla you're referring to when talking about FWD or RWD (88/89 sport coupe corolla was the first year FWD corolla, apparently)... IIRC, alot of drifters used the AE86 Corolla hatch because it was one of the easiest cars to drift for the cheapest amount of $$... just a penny for your thoughts... or at leaset my .02

I'm sure the Corolla is a nice, dependable car that will last the daily drive many years and miles. However I myself, am all about performance and I don't think you will be finding any in a Corolla. I'm sure many will agree with me. Sorry for hurting anyones feelings.

Good point about the older RWD 80s models, those would be sweet.

Most Nissans, Toyotas, and Hondas will last a very long time if they are taken care of and well-maintained.
