Hi S13Chuckkat....

Where you able to get your problem fixed?? i have exactly the same problem, I got my car back yesterday and it stalls once i go to neutral... Idle will fall straight to 0rpm, I have to do heel-toe on redlights all the time.. specially on turns... I will do all those changes listed to see if anything go better.. I am pretty sure i have air leak somewhere in the intercooler piping or intake...

i'm having the same problem..

it's very intermittent and it feels like their's a ghost in the car. lol

it gets really bad after driving every single day, and then i have to leave it for a few days till it starts again.

Do you have problems starting your car as well?? Do you have to pump the gas while starting sometimes??And.. when lightly pressing the pedal in neutral or pressing it hard in neutral (from IDLE..) does your car almost die?

Well, anyways.. I checked my service manual for this problem.. (i have a single cam, but used the dual cam service manual. same **** on most things).. it said to check your IACV-Air Regulator Valve and IACV-Auxiliary Air Control (there's two of them. but they're connected together).

(Btw, IACV stands for IDLE Air Control Valve.. it controls your cold start warmup idle, hot start idle, and makes sure your idle holds steady without fluctuating)

To check your IACV-Air Regulator Valve, you have to squeeze the hose that goes to it while the engine is running in idle. Your IACV is fine if you squeeze it and the idle drops/engine almost dies..

If your idle stays the same way or continues to do the same thing without giving signs of almost dying or having the idle speed drop (As you are pinching) then you have a faulty IACV.

To check the IACV-A.A.C. you have to turn the car off. Press the gas pedal all the way down and try to start the car. YOU SHOULDN'T BE ABLE TO START THE CAR WITH THE THROTTLE PRESSED ALL THE WAY DOWN.Check 3 times (if it starts).

Mine turned out to have both of them faulty.

Don't worry, you don't need to buy a new one in most cases. You can take your current one off and clean it out thoroughly (but be careful with it and don't break any of the moving parts on it). Some people say use carb cleaner, some people say soak it in starter fluid for 15 minutes.. (i think they said starter fluid. it could be something else.. either way, you have to use some fluid that cleanses)

The IACV is located under the intake manifold (right under it close to the injectors on the firewall side of the engine bay).. to take it out you have to take of the intake manifold.. :*(

Well, I'm going to be doing that on my car. Oh ****, no I won't, because my dad won't let me and is making me take it to his mechanic (but he's paying ).

So yeah, get that IACV out and clean it thoroughly.. While the IACV is out, take the time to clean out your intake manifold (it should have years and years of gunk like mine) and your throttle body.

My friend did all this on his camry (had all the parts soaked and cleansed) and re-used his ICV (ICV on camry lol) and afterwards his idle was STUCK at 750 for good! He showed me, revved it to 3000RPM and it would drop back down slowly and steadily and would not even go under 750RPM.

Other 240 owners on here have done the same and have had the same results. Let's both cross our fingers and hope that we don't need to buy new IACV (Like $200 for one ).

Yeah anyways.. that should definitely help your idle irregularity problem as well as make your car drive better.

Good luck man.
