Ok so I finally get my SR running but not completely. It does start and it runs for maybe about 5 seconds then dies. The plug in cyl#1 kept getting fouled but I'm almost positive its from the motor sitting for so long. When I pull the plug and crank it sometimes some dust will puff out. I did another compression test just to be 100% sure I wasn't loosing compression in that cyl and the test came out cyl#1: 130, cyl#2: 130, cyl#3: 150, and cyl#4: 140, so the compression appears to be fine. My only other thoughts are maybe the injector in cyl#1 is clogged or the timing is still a bit off. I've gone back and forth with the timing now and the damned thing still wont stay running. Anyone got any ideas?

a differance of 20 PSI between any 2 cylinders of an engine would mean a dead cylinder, but you cant get a good compression test without the engine being at operating temp. The stuff you see coming out of cylinder #1 if fuel from the injector. If you are fludding out cylinders you should check your fuel lines and make sure they are connected correctly. You should also ohm check your injectors and make sure they arent bad.

Ok so i've timed and retimed this thing and I still cant get much more than a 5 second sputter. I have fuel and spark and the car does start but it just doesn't stay running at all. I reset the timing back to factory again and used 3 different write-ups to double and triple check my work and everything appears to be 100% correct with the timing. Cyl#1 is fouling out bad and we've determined that its probably fuel. It appears that I'm getting too much fuel or possibly preignition which would also lead to the cylindars flooding out. I'm running a walbro 255 fuel pump with the stock injectors and fpr which may pose a problem but I've read that it should matter with startup. My other thoughts are either they sent me the wrong ECU or my CAS or CAS wiring is bad. So my questions are as follows: how do I figure out what ECU I have if the stick is gone, how do I test my CAS and would the 255 pump cause an issue with starting. I tooks the ECU apart and tested all the parts (I'm an electronic tech) and the parts I'm able to check seems to be fine so I'm sure the ECU isn't fried. The number on the board in the ECU reads A12-001-C65[4] and its the only number I can find (the stick is rubbed off). Can someone please help me get this thing started I'm sooooooo close to having a running SR. Thnx, Rob.

if you are flooding out cylinders you may be getting to much fuel, the factory fpr dont always go well with the 255s, they tend to fail under the extra pressure, also, check the ohms on your injectors

What should the ohms be on the injectors?

If you keep the throttle a little up does it rev or dose it just die? Also is it in the car and if so is the maf wired right as well?

I'm using the stock maf so I'm almost positive its wires right. If you hold the gas down you may get a little more life but the car doesn't even stay running long enough to do much. It doesn't even reach an idling speed.

check for injector pulse

check to make sure you fuel pump is running, not just priming

pull out all the plugs and put them in the coilpacks, make sure you have spark

I'm way ahead of ya. All that checks good, but I still think I got the wrong ECU. The manufacturer part# doesn't match anything I've found so far, but nobodys been able to tell me for sure if its the wrong ECU either. Its definetly an SR ECU but I'm not sure if its for a redtop.
